Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Psalm 51:7

When we yield to the lordship of Jesus, our sins are forgiven and we are changed. But contrary to popular opinion, not all changes are instantaneous. Positionally, we are brought to a right standing with God. However, the flaws we have in our character will never be easy to correct.

These “defects” resulted from the habits and attitudes we may have unknowingly embraced when we were still outside God’s control. Some find it discouraging to be “haunted” by their weaknesses while many others still find it difficult to shake off some bad habits. Granted that all these are butnormal, on the other hand, the same could never be used as excuses for continuing in sin.

Inward change always manifests outwardly. Though we, as earlier stated, recognize that not all changes happen at once, a genuine turn around validates our surrender to Jesus. The real challenge is not just to do good, but to commit to produce fruit in keeping with repentance. To say that we have surrendered our life to Jesus is one thing, to see fruits of this surrender is another.
