I chuckled as I watched him struggle with his words and stutter, his struggle to find the right words just seemed endless as he cheeks became more flushed by the second.
"It's fine Connor, really," I told him with an airy laugh. He immediately loosened up and held me closer to him, which worked in his favor to help him hide his warm and red face.
"I'm sorry," his said quietly as he stroked my hair lightly. Only a content hum escaped me, it was such a time filled with bliss and comfort. The thunderstorm approaching quickly but the rain had softened. The light pitter-patters calmed the both of us to no end, and how I longed for this moment to last forever, but if it did, then I wouldn't be much of a moment anymore would it? The fragrance of petrichor and flowers filled my lungs; oh how much I loved it, listening to Connors heart beat while taking in the other noises and smells practically felt like heaven. I sat up on his lap and he followed suit, I placed a quick peck on his lips and smiled softly at him, the amount of undying love I had towards Connor seemed unreal. How could I, a person so scarred, love someone so much? I've been built up, broken and torn down only to rebuild and become stronger both mentally and physically yet I couldn't stop myself from feeling such an emotion, watching this feeling blossom and grow, regardless of what condition I was in.
Oh how the world was full of mysterious and tragedies, both could bring beauty and chaos but both are sometimes gorgeous in their own way, either by bringing people from across invisible barriers together and letting them see that they could overcome it as a whole or let them see how their own hope grows to make the future better for those whom make their way into this beautifully broken world.
"Trishka, are you alright? You've been staring at the ground for a while." His voice was so calming and gentle.
"I'm fine, I'm just really happy that I have you is all," I replied to him as I smiled and hugged him, I could practically feel the heat that radiated off his cheeks and against my own.
"I should be the one to say that, I'm the luckiest man alive to have you. Trish you're absolutely gorgeous, kind, smart, talented, surprisingly agile and flexible, and you're really perceptive."
"All of those are a lie and you know it, especially the perceptive part." I said with a chuckle.
"Maybe you see yourself that way, but I see you differently, I see you as the best thing that could ever happen to me, and frankly I still feel that way about you and I know for a fact that I'll keep feeling that way about you until my last breath," he said as he gave me a smile and tucked a stray hair behind my ear making me blush and smile. I held him close and kissed his cheek, small tears of joy left my eyes and rolled down my cheeks, I muffled a sniffle but Connor still heard. His immediate thought was that he said something wrong and began to apologize.
"You've done nothing wrong Connor, trust me," I smiled and ran my fingers through his hair as we sat there listening to the rain and thunder that passed over us. We sat silently and admiring each other until the rain stopped and the clouds spread apart, a vast and vibrant rainbow appeared across the now gorgeous blue sky, we stood and enjoyed the beautiful view. After a few minutes of admiration we headed back to the workshop to rest and enjoy company of others.
