"Hey!" You exclaim happily, approaching Hayama with a slight bounce in your step. "Are we still on for tonight? I already bought the tickets!"
He glances down at you, a sort of carelessness in his eyes that made your smile waver. "Sorry. I'm helping Jun tonight."
You blink. "But we planned to see this movie a week ago..."
"I have to go shopping for her. She's low on supplies." Is his short response as he checks the time. "I have to go see her now. Later."
He walks off, leaving you staring at his retreating figure as your smile completely vanishes from your face, leaving you with a saddened look.
Again? You think to yourself as you hug your shoulders, biting your lip. It's like he doesn't care about this...about us, anymore.
--
"Thanks for coming along with me tonight." You say with a small sad smile as you walk alongside Soma, who grins as a response. You were both headed back after the movie, and you had explained everything to him, and he had listened.
"Of course. I'm just surprised Hayama..." He trails off, and the frown sets on your lips as he doesn't finish that sentence. "Just go back, okay? I'm sure he's waiting for you back at your place."
"Sure. Thanks again." You say as he ruffles your hair before you walk off your separate ways.
At least I'll see him tonight.
--
He wasn't there.
You shakily sigh, walking into your shared bedroom before taking a seat on the bed, dialing his number.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's late." Your voice cracks slightly. "Where are you?"
You hear his heavy sigh, and you feel your chest pang. You felt like you were wasting his time. You meant nothing to him anymore.
"I'm at Jun's. I'll be back tomorrow morning." Is his simple reply as your voice shakes.
"U-um...why are you staying over there-?"
"(Y/N)." He cuts you off as your eyes widen. "It's none of your business. I'll be back tomorrow."
The call ends, and you slowly take the phone down from your ear. Your eyes become hot as you crawl into bed alone, for the fourth day in a row.
"Thanks for remembering our anniversary's tomorrow." You mumble into your pillow, the tears causing the fabric to become wet.
You were done.
--
When Hayama Akira walked into your apartment the next morning, something felt immediately off.
The atmosphere felt so...different.
"(Y/N)?" He questions, slipping his jacket off. "I'm back."
He continues his strides down the hall to see all of the pictures of you that were on the wall had been taken, and he heard a pounding in his ears as his eyes widened.
He burst through your bedroom door, searching for your small figure that was supposed to be peacefully sleeping in your bed.
But you weren't.
All of your belongings were gone, and so was the suitcase that was on top of the closet. He approached the nightstand to find the crumpled picture of you two with the charm bracelet he had given you for your birthday.
Shakily, he picks up the bracelet and clenches it on his fist as he takes a slow seat on the bed before his legs could give out from underneath him.
Something was laying on his pillow as he confusedly took the ribbon off the box to see it was the rare spice he had been talking about all these months that was very hard to retrieve. He blinked. This must've been a fortune.
He shakily slips the note out of the box only for his shock to double. The note you had written a few weeks ago read-
Hayama-
Happy anniversary! Three years flew by, didn't it? I really hope you like your gift, I didn't know what to get you, but I figured you'd like this much better :) don't worry about the price, okay? I know you probably will, but just know it came from my heart. I love you, I love you, I love you!
Love (if you didn't know already), (Y/N)
The note crumples in his hand as he feels something wet slide down his cheek.
He had messed up big time.
