~Daniel~
Kathy entered Daniels room just as he finished adjusting himself onto his bed. She placed her flowery, pink backpack on a spare chair and her bag on the nearby desk whilst she looked around Dan's room looking at all his band posters scattered on the wall and his glow in the dark stars in the ceiling.
Dan shuffled his way to grab his back pack and take out his science notebook and text book, opening at a random page before realizing he didn't know what Kathy needed help studying with. Luckily, Daniel was pretty excellent in his science and chemistry classes, so whatever Kathy needed help with Dan would be sure to know of.
"What do you need help with?" Dan asked after a couple of seconds of silence. She turned around and sat dangerously close to Dan placing a hand behind him to support her self. Dan shuffle a little back to the head board of his bed, making himself more adjustable for Kathy to see his text book. She flipped through the pages until she almost reached halfway through the whole textbook, stopping at a chapter titled "Atoms: Covalant and Ionic Bonds."
Dan scoffed, a small giggle escaping him. "C'mon Kathy. . That's quite simple. Let's start, then. You'll get this in no time." He assured her smiling, only sending Dan another warm smile back. "Alright! Let me get my notebook then." she happily answered. She headed off towards her backpack, unzipping it to retrieve what Dan thought would be her pencil bag. Whilst Dan tried to find a loose pen or pencil in his backpack Kathy interrupted the awkward silence.
"So, do you like science?" she said rather quietly, trying starting off a conversation. "Dan kept zipping and un-zipping anything on his backpack for a search of a pencil when Kathy was already sitting on Dan's bed. He quickly found one at the very bottom of his biggest zipper and walked towards the bed where Kathy was.
"Well, yes actually I do-"
"Because I've got my ion you!" She interrupted sending almost an audible wink, her tongue poking out and a finger in the air like some anime character.Dan laughed, but quickly stopped to talk. "Wow. That was so bad!" He exclaimed smiling. The room fell into silence as Dan sat back onto his bed opening his notebook adding a title to the page.
He giggled under his breath, but Kathy turned around to see him smiling. "What's so funny now?" She said, her smile almost as audible as her wink.
"I'd tell you a chemistry joke, but I wouldn't get a reaction."
They both burst into a fit of laughter, completely forgetting they were supposed to be studying and not telling each other lame science related jokes. This went on for a couple of minutes, joking around trying to figure out other terrible chemistry and science related jokes as they kept throwing them at each other. Dan looked over to his clock on his bedside table, the usual boring red numbers glowing. 4:03 p.m.
Crap. Have we've been talking for this long? If we don't hurry, I won't have time to hang out with Phil. . .

"Okay, Kathy. Pay attention." Dan snapped after a few minutes of trying to study. Kathy stood up from her position scooting closer to Dan to get a clearer view of his notebook and the textbook sitting in front of them. "This is important." Dan added turning to look at Kathy and back at his book. She sighed as she tried her best to glue her eyes onto the book. "Alright, alright." She gave in.
"Covalent bonds are where one or more pairs of electrons are shared by two atoms, you understand?" Kathy rested her head on Dan's shoulder, she made a faint mh-hm sound as her eyes where glued somewhere else on Dan's black and white duvet. Dan felt quite uncomfortable where Kathy was positioned, but he didn't care nonetheless as they were about to finish studying. Dan noticed her not paying attention to him or the lecture he was giving him, and tested out if she really was paying attention or not.
