How many friendships
Will we have to go through
To see that they weren't right for us?
How many toxic relationships
Will flow through our life
Before we cut off the supply?
We continue you on
Pouring these drugs into our system
Hoping.
Praying.
We think that the drugs
Will change on their own
We hope if we wait
Cocaine will turn to sugar.
Weed will turn to grass.
Tobacco will turn to chocolate.
We wait
Wait
Wait
But nothing changes
Because change doesn't occur
On its own
It happens when you dig deep
And pull the plug of the disaster
Cursing through your veins
Sometimes you tug
Most of the times you push
The needle sinking deeper each time
Until it reaches a spot
That it calls home
And stays there
Forever contempt
It returns everyday
Following you around like a shadow
Until you're left in only darkness
You stay there
Unable to get out
Until something disastrous comes
And washes away the mist
A terrible occurrence
Is what makes your life better
Because you can finally see
The drugs will never change
The person will never change
And all they are doing
Is killing you.
