Chapter Five:Returns, Tests, and Projects

Maddie

It was the Spring Fairest, a festival that spellabrates Wonderland. I was almost done doing tree–ffiti when Ginger Breadhouse asked where she could get Wonderland water. I took her to Lizzie's dorm, where Lizzie had given Ginger her book which had a map to the Well of Wonder. I was still in Lizzie's dorm when Ginger left. I sat down on her bed. I smiled at her, because she looked...distant. As if she were thinking of something. Well, more like someone.

"When the tree tries to flee, the geese are filled with glee." I said as Lizzie sat down next to me. She nodded and smiled. I walked down to the front of the school with Lizzie. We sat at the stairs when a familiar smile popped up in front of us. It was Kitty Cheshire.

"Hey guys." Kitty waved, looking happy. "Isn't the Spring Fairest the best place for some Wonderlandiful pranks?"

"Of course it is, Kitty." Lizzie rolled her eyes. "But pranking isn't a very queenly thing to do."

"Or a mad thing!" I chimed.

"But that crowd in front of the Fairest entrance would be an amazing place to pull a prank or two." Kitty pointed at the large crowd that blocked the entrance to the Fairest. Some of the people parted a path to see who was causing the crowd. I didn't pay attention, I was having afternoon tea with my dormouse, Earl Gray.

"Uh, Maddie." Kitty poked my arm.

"Not now, Kitty." I didn't even look at her.

"Maddie." Lizzie poked my other arm.

"Not now, Lizzie." I replied again.

"Maddie!" They both said in unison.

"Okay, okay!" I finally looked at them. "What is so important that you need to take a Hatter from her tea?" I then scolded them. "Shelves of berries very cold, the icy layer turns old!"

They said nothing, but pointed to the crowd. My eyes trailed from their arms to the crowd. My jaw dropped at the sight.

It was Alistair and Bunny.

Alistair

After Bunny and I had introduced ourselves to the students of Ever After High, I saw Maddie. She was staring at me with her jaw dropped. Her face then became happy.

"Alistair!" Lizzie, Kitty, and Maddie cried. They all ran over and pulled me and Bunny into a group hug. I showed everyone the Storybook of Legends. Me and Bunny had found it in Wonderland, in a river.

Then Headmaster Grimm(I think that's his name)came over and wanted to send me and Bunny back to Wonderland. When we showed him the Storybook of Legends, he reconsidered, and let us stay. I couldn't wait to spend the next day with Maddie. I've been with Bunny my whole life, I think it's time to be with Maddie for a little while.

After the events of 'Spring Unsprung'

Maddie

"Hey," I waved to Alistair. He was now my Wonderland Best Friend Forever After again, but he still spent time with Bunny.

"Ready for the Geografairy test?" Alistair asked.

"Ready am I as pumpernickel pie!" I smiled, happy.

"Guess you are super ready." Alistair said as we entered the classroom. Whispers and comments spread around the room like dragon fire.

Mostly "They're so cute together," and "I heard that Alistair is cheating on Bunny with Maddie," or "The next fairytale couple just walked in,". I rolled my eyes and ignored these comments. My Best Friend Forever After, Raven Queen, nudged my shoulder from where she sat, next to me. Alistair sat next to Bunny, who gave me a smug smile.

"How do you not see how much he likes you?" Raven asked. "Y'know, the Fall Forest Dance is almost coming up, he might ask you to the dance."

"Oh, stop it," I shook my head so much that I got dizzy. "You're going with Dexter, right?"

"Mm–hm." Raven nodded. "I just don't know what to wear."

"Students!" Mr. Jack B. Nimble cleared his throat. "Today, as you all know, we have a test. After the test I will assign you and another student a project."

My heart sank as I remembered how Bunny had said the most unfairest things about me to Alistair. I glanced uneasily at Alistair, a guilty expression on his face as he looked at me. Then we worked on the test.

Name four lands or realms in this world.

Easy, I thought.

I wrote down Ever After, Wonderland, The Land of the Giants and The Ocean Realm. I answered question after question until I was done. I skipped down to where the professor was and handed my test the same time as Alistair did. I felt my cheeks turn red like a red fish and my heart go faster when his hand accidentally touched mine.

"Sorry." He mouthed, but I saw the slightest bit of rosy pink on his cheeks too. Then weparted ways and retreated to our desks. Then a few more people turned in their tests and Mr. Jack B. Nimble started to call out the project groups.

Bunny

There were few people left for the groups I smiled.

"Hey, Alistair?" I asked, turning to the cute blonde sitting next to me.

"Yeah?" He asked, shimmering blue eyes shining with question.

"There aren't many people left," I scooted closer to Alistair, "maybe you and I will be–"

"Bunny Blanc and August Hare." Mr. Jack B. Nimble announced, making my jaw drop in disappointment. I looked over at August Hare, son of the March Hare. His dark brown eyes shone confidently and his darker brown hair was ruffled in a cute sort of way. I smiled forcedly, hoping he wouldn't notice the strained corners of my smile. I glanced over at Alistair, and he had no reaction. Not even a small spark of jealousy that ignited into a raging blue fire in his eyes. I noticed with a scowl at what he was staring at in a wanting way.

I'll get you, Maddie. So you'd better sleep with one eye open, because I'm coming for you.
