Yin and Yang
Chapter 3
Later that day, all five of us went to our parents and asked them to put us into martial arts classes. Since we knew Boomer would probably not be able to afford them, my brothers and I had to convince our parents to pay the classes for him, too. It (no joke) took us three hours to convince them. We had to make all sorts of excuses to convince them. We couldn't tell them about me. They would probably have a heart attack and think I was a complete liar and that I probably got a tattoo of a dragon to make it all more real. Either way, we got them to say yes. They would also pay for Boomer's lessons which just made our lives that much better. Juni met up with us later on to tell us that her parents had said yes, too.
After we had all convinced our parents, all five of us went to the Karate gym on Madison Avenue and asked for more info. The classes weren't cheap, but they were manageable. I did the paperwork for Kane, Zane, and myself and the other two did it for themselves. Once we were all done and we made a down payment, we were handed our practice outfits and given schedules and were told we started tomorrow.
Kane, Zane, and I went straight back home and the other two went to their places. I went up to my room and stayed in there trying to research more on the Book of Changes.
In the website that I found, I read about the history of the book and how it had been made of actual dragon skin and intestines with a hint of blood and magic. It could only be read by the Middle Queen and the Under Lord, but not by any human eyes. The reason why it was called the Book of Changes is because it changes with everything that happens. It tells the past, the present, and yes, unfortunately the future, but it doesn't directly say things. It gives us information in the form of riddles. The future and present can change with a drastic decision that I or the Under Lord makes. And the last time anyone heard of the language it was in...it was Chinese. Great! Now, I not only had to become a martial arts master and transformation genius, but I also had to learn a completely new language. How perfect is my life? The book would also tell me how I could hide the Mark and also how to summon the Dragon form and other useful information of that sort.
I called Boomer to tell him of everything that I had found out about the book. While I had been researching, he had found the address to Hatsu's house and how to get there.
“But there's one problem,” he said.
“What is it?” I asked, afraid to.
“It's off the radar,” he replied.
I groaned. “Are you serious?”
“Yeah, if we go, it'll take us at least two days to get there and two more days to get back.”
I groaned again. “Where is it?”
“It's in Chinatown, San Francisco.”
I groaned again.
“Yeah, I don't think our parents would let us go.”
“Or...” I said getting an idea.
“Or what?” he asked scared. He was always scared when I had an idea. Can't blame him though, they always ended up bad.
“Or we could be wrackless teenagers and lie to our parents so that we can go,” I said.
He sighed. “If it wasn't this important I would say hell to the effing hell no, but it's important that we get that book. If we don't and it gets into the wrong hands...really bad things could happen,” he explained.
