Lillie carried on walking peacefully to the library. She figured that since the encounter with Chase was about 5 mins long, Grace would already be at the library waiting for Lillie. She found a long outside corridor with white double doors labelled "Library". She entered the corridor which had a glass roof and windows. 'It's like a long greenhouse' Lillie thought. She could partly see outside as she was walking through. On the field, there were a few boys playing soccer. Lillie spotted Chase playing and she smiled. He kicked the ball and got it straight in the goal. He turned and saw Lillie, he smiled and waved to her. Lillie waved back as his friends pulled him away from the goal cheering his name.
Lillie entered the library quietly. There were giant wooden bookcases that reached all the way up to the ceiling with probably every book in the world...... (Okay... not really.) But there were literally thousands of books to read. There was a small computer area near the entrance, and a booth in the middle of the room where the librarian sat.
Lillie walked past the computers and saw Grace sitting at a large reading table. Grace looked up from her book and motioned for Lillie to come over.
" 'Sup." Lillie said as she sat in front of Grace.
"What took ya so long?" Grace asked putting her book down.
"Um... I... Dropped my folder! And....... the papers went everywhere! And uh... yeah. I had to pick 'em all up." Lillie said trying not to give away the fact that it wasn't the full story.
"Ummm... Okay?... I'm gonna go find another book...." Grace got up from her chair and went towards the back of the library where the book cases were. Lillie didn't really want to tell Grace about the awkward encounter with Chase.
'It would totally make Grace think that I have a crush on him, when I don't...' Lillie thought to herself. Lillie headed to the manga section after Grace left the table.
'That was a bit suspicious...' Grace thought as she got to the fictional story section.
'I wonder if 'Rose' is in here...' Grace thought to herself. 'Rose' was Grace's second favourite book. Grace scanned through the tightly packed shelves and saw a small silver plaque labelled 'Holly Webb'.
"No way!" Grace whispered to herself. "She has her own shelf?!" Grace shuffled over to the plaque. "Okay.... It has to be here somewhere..." Grace looked through dragging her finger along the book titles and came across a bright pink book, on the side it read 'Rose, by Holly Webb'.
"Bingo!" Grace whispered. She went to pull the book out of the shelf, but it wouldn't budge. She pulled on it harder. Someone was obviously on the other side of the bookshelf trying to grab it too, but Grace didn't give up that easily. She pulled back with all her grip on the book meaning that if they let go she would fall back onto her butt. Guess what? They let go, and she fell back onto her butt... Grace was left on the floor with the book in her hand, when a faded figure peaked their head around the edge of the giant bookcase.
"Oh no. I'm very sorry, Miss." She heard the voice say quietly.
They stepped from behind the bookshelf and offered Grace their hand. The figure was almost....... transparent. Grace could just about see where their hand was. She reached for it but her arm passed right through it.
"Huh?" Grace said, confused.
"Oh! Hold on, one second." The figure started to become clearer and gained colour. It was a boy about an inch or two taller than Grace with dark brown hair and pale skin. He wore jeans, a blue and white horizontal striped t-shirt, blue trainers with white laces, and had a pair of large gray glasses hanging from his face as he looked down.
"There." He put his hand out again to help Grace up.
"Oh! Thank you!" Grace said kindly as she got up and dusted herself off.
"Sorry, I.... Sometimes forget about that..." He said nervously twiddling his thumbs around.
"It's fine. I forget about my monster form aswell occasionally... You must be a Ghost then?" Grace asked as she looked him up and down pushing up her purple reading glasses. He disappeared for a second and popped up behind Grace.
"Yes." He whispered in Grace's ear and appeared back in front of her. She giggled and looked down at her book and blushed.
"What are you? Uh!... if you don't mind me asking..." He said cautiously. Grace giggled slightly.
"I'll tell you but first; what's your favourite book?" Grace asked with a smirk.
"Hmmmm let me think....... well... i haven't finished reading it yet but I do love The Burning by R.L.Stine." He said.
"Be right back" Grace said suddenly and whizzed through the library in seconds before returning.
"Here ya go!" Grace handed him the book and his face lit up.
"Woah! Nice V.S! So you're a Vampire? I've never properly spoken to a Vampire before..." He looked at Grace with a small smile.
"Aw, don't worry, I won't 'bite'!" Grace said. They both bursted out laughing. They stopped after they heard a loud 'Shhhh!' from the librarian.
"Oops." Grace was still giggling a bit when the boy held out his hand to shake.
"I'm Nathan." He stated gently.
"Grace." She smiled as they finished shaking hands.
*Insert Awkward Silence Here*
Nathan opened his mouth to say something but the school bell rang, interrupting him.
"I'll see ya in class, Nathan!" Grace gave a small wave as she turned and walked off to find Lillie.
Nathan sighed then faded away to their class.
"Where were you?!" Lillie whisper-shouted as she put her pencil case in her bag.
"Sorry, I was looking for my second favourite book." Grace responded as she showed the cover to Lillie.
"Hey, what do we have now?" Lillie asked Grace as they left the library.
"I don't know... we'll have to check the board" Grace said as they joined a hoard of teenagers that filled the halls.{Herro!!!!! Sorry I haven't been updating regularly.... I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do that 'every other day' thing... but I promise I'll update AT LEAST once a week.
