Ladies and gentlemen, today I have the honour of interviewing probably one of the biggest stars on television right now, Ella Wiseman.
*laughs* I wouldn't say "biggest", but thank you. Its great to be here.
It's awesome having you. You know, my youngest is a huge fan of Harry Potter. She loves Shailene!
Awe! Well tell her I said hi and I'm glad she enjoys the series so much!
Will do, and she'll be ecstatic to hear. My oldest also loves you, but for a different role. Now, I obviously don't watch Game of Thrones because it's not exactly my cup of tea, so would you mind explaining your character to me?
Not at all! Aaliyah is something of a "Black Widow". She's only young, she's supposed to be a teenager in the novels but in the show she's in her mid 20's, but she's already had a string of husbands. Each man she's married have been royalty, princes or kings or soon to be kings, and when she married them she becomes queen of the land. However, once they've been married long enough, her husband "mysteriously" dies and she gets his kingdom and his riches and she moves on to the next poor soul she can find, thus her nickname "Queen of Hearts".
Oh my. She doesn't seem like a very nice character.
There's always a debate on whether or not she's a nice person. In the novels, we're hoping to have this in for next season, it's revealed that she was raised this way by her mother, who was the same way but stopped after Aaliyah was born. She knows no other way. There are times when she seems like a terrible person, for example when she tried to seduce Joffery to steal him away from Margaery, but she also seems to have a bit of a heart, as shown in all her time with Robb Stark.
That's something else I wanted to ask you about, because I saw your post a while ago on Instagram about how Robb Stark was the only man to truly capture Aaliyah's heart.
Yes! Basically, in season 3 I believe, Aaliyah arrived in Winterfell after hearing about the death of former king, Ned Stark, in hopes to seduce and marry his son and heir, Robb. But Robb saw right through her and knew what she was trying to do, so he refused to fall for her. Once they got to know each other more, it seemed as if Aaliyah truly was in love with Robb. In the end, though - spoiler! - she ended up betraying him anyways and it led to his death, which she was forced to watch. Now, she's just travelling on her own with no desire to marry yet because her heart is still with Robb.
That's a turn around. Anyways, moving on from Game of Thrones and to your newest project, Me Before You.
Yes!
What was your first reaction when you got this news? That you were playing Louisa?
I screamed. *laughs* I wish that was a joke. But I'm a huge fan of the novel, so finding out I got the role was a huge thing for me.
How's filming?
Absolutely amazing. Sam, who plays Will Traynor, is such a nice and funny guy and a joy to work with, as are the rest of the cast.
Speaking of "rest of the cast" -
Uh-oh *laughs*
- Matthew Lewis, who was your costar in the Harry Potter franchise, is playing your boyfriend Patrick.
Yes indeed he is.
What's it like acting with him again?
It's been quite a few years since we've seen each other but it's like no time has passed at all. We're still really close and still the best of friends.
Wow, friendzoned much?
Yeah, sorry Matthew!
That was another thing I was hoping to ask you, because many people seem to really want you and Matthew together. Do you think you two will ever actually date?
I honestly don't know. I'm not exactly looking for a boyfriend right now as I want to focus on my career, but maybe in the future. Who knows?
Exactly. That's all the time I have for now. Thank you so much for talking with us and good luck with the rest of Me Before You and your future in Game of Thrones.
Thank you!
