Darwin Kyleson

I wake up in my room on my bed. There's a cup of orange juice next to me and a plate of toast, eggs, and bacon. How'd did I get in my bed. Last thing I remember is being on the swings at the park. A person behind me...wait...what happened last night? I get up and walk downstairs.

I look in the kitchen and don't see my parents...that's strange. I walk in the livingroom and see my parents not ready for work and talking. My father looks up at me and his eyes grow wide. My mother turns around and the same thing happens to her. They both jumped up and run up to me and I become engulfed in tight hugs, wet kisses, and "are you okay's".

"Yes I am fine. And what's going on? Wasn't I at the park?

"Honey. you don't remember anything?"

"No. Not really." What the hell is going on?

"You were attacked and-and. This young man, he-he." Whenever my mother got worked up about something she stuttered-really bad.

"Mariea, I got this." My dad stops m mom. She nods in understanding.

"Last night when you went to the park, someone tried to kidnap you. Luckily a young man was around the area and saw what was going on so he intervened and saved you beore anything dangerous could happen. Your mother began to worry why you weren't home in time so she called you and the young man picked up and explained everything. I know it's a lot, you can stay home today and tomorrow."

"What? Wait, huh? Well did the guy say his name?" I questioned, lost in the moment not caring about me, but my savior.

"Uh...yes..Derick...Darin...Dar something...Oh! His name was Darwin...Darwin Kenny...Darwin Kelsey...Dar-" My mother struggled to get her facts straight.

"Darwin Kyleson" Of course my dad remembered.

"Oh yes. That was his name. He was so nice to actually leave his number and told me to call when you woke up and to see if you were fine."

"Okay mom thanks. I'll be sure to call him. I'm going to go to school actually, if that's fine"

"Yes. Go ahead. It's your call" My dad answers

So I head up to my room and get read for school. I'll be late but my parents will call the school.

*WALKS AND GETS TO SCHOOL

I make it just in time for lunch, yay. Haha. I walk to my locker to get rid of unnecessary things. I turn around and walk to lunch. I pass a group of guys.

"Hey" I turn around and don't see anyone so I continue walking.

"Wait, hold on" Yet again I turn around but this time, someone is walking up to me. The person is a bit too far for me to identify who they are. Then, the person comes into vision after a few steps...Darwin. He stands in front of me.

"Hey"

"So how are you? You aren't hurt or anything right?"

"No. I'm perfectly fine."

"Cool"

"Uh...thanks for saving me I guess. I'd probably be dead or some type of slave or sold to someone right now..."

"Yeah. It was nothing. I would've done the same for anyone"

"Well still thanks."

"Yup."

"So...uh..see you around?"

"Uh yeah. See you around"

So, we both walk down the hall to the lunchroom, both on opposite sides of the wall. We reach the doors, look at each other awkwardly, then part ways.

"Did I just see you and Darwin together?" Melody exclaims

"No we were not together we just happened to walk in the lunchroom at the same time."

"Yeah..after everyone else walks in" Rylee sarcastically comments.

"Hush Rylee! It's nothing. I promise guys." I say sassy like

"Um...nothing really?" Rylee says and then nods to something behind me. I turn around and see..Darwin staring in my table's direction. Once he's caught tries to play it off.

"Okay and..."

"And...he's interested" Melody boasts

"Yeah...and are you? C'mon. I know you are. Admit it" Rylee needs to be quiet.

"Guys. Chill. I. Do. Not. Like. Him. Period."

'MMMHMM" Both Rylee and Melody say unison.

Lunch ends and the school day go's on. At the end of the day, I do my daily rituals and go to my locker, throw my stuff in and head out of 8 hour prison. I plug in my headphones and start walking home. Something is different today though. I'm no the only one walking this path, there's some other person behind me. I didn't see who, I can just feel it.

I just continue walking like it's nothing. After a while, I get really paranoid and whip around.

"Darwin?"

"Lydia. Lydia right?"

"Yeah..." Wtf was he following me?

"Um..I don't want you to think that I'm stalking you or anything. I was just wondering if we could talk?"

"Uhh..yeah sure."

"Great. Oh and my house is this way also it's just my bus left without me so just to assure you that I'm not following you or anything."

"Okay. So what'd you want to talk about?

"Last night"

"Right. Well I don't remember much really."

"Yeah and that's the thing. The guy, who tried to take you is some creep who goes to our school"

"WHAT! Well do you know who he is?"

"No. Not yet"

"How do you even now this?"

"Word travels." He starts the back of his neck

"Anyways. I was thinking that since he goes to out school, that I could be your protector or bodyguard sorta...just until we find out who the guy is."

"Uh..I'd be weird though with you following me around"

"You wouldn't even notice I'm there. This is just for protection."

"Well sure then. I guess since its for my safety and all."

"Great." By the time our conversation ends, we're in front of my house.

"Well this is my place. I guess I'll see you later?" I said, turning my head towards him.

"Oh yeah. I'll catch ya later. Nice talk." I smile then, walk up to my front door. Darwin then walks to the house next door to me and pulls out a...key? He lives right next to me? How come I've never seen him before? Well he did say his house was in the same direction as mine, but I didn't think right next to me. Wow. Also interesting. Very interesting...I wonder, maybe...no way..can't be...whatever.
