Nothing I Can Do

Maggie's POV:

"Now you guys walk down the aisle. No, too fast! No! No, no, all wrong!" The priest yells at Phillip and I. "You, stay in pace with the flower girls, so stay behind them. Let's do it again!"

We all walk back through the chapel, and stop behind the huge oak doors. We've been at this literally all day, and I always find a way to mess it up. I don't mean to, I just can't do it right. It's not even hard, I just can't. Phillip keeps giving me dirty looks that make me burst out laughing; he's taking this so seriously. I guess I would be agitated if it were the other way around, but he looks constipated, so it's hilarious.

"Babe, is everything okay?" He asks, pulling me aside. "I'm fine, aren't you supposed to be out there?" I try to pull my hand away from his, but he holds me tight. "They said I could come talk to you. Do you need a break?" Yes. Yes, I need a break. How do I tell him that? "I don't want to do this, Phillip. I don't want to marry you." Well that's one way, I guess. He loosens his grip, and I pull away. I run out the oak doors and down the steps. Knowing no one will follow me, I make my way to the garden where the reception will be. I sit down on the steps going up to the gardens and sigh.

I really don't want to do this anymore. I don't want to marry Phillip, I don't love him. I don't even like him! I hate his guts, but there's nothing I can do about it.

I hear footsteps coming from the garden, so I quickly wipe the tears off of my face before standing and turning around to face the person. It's Niall.

Niall's POV:

I found her sitting near the gardens, crying. My heart breaks at the sight of her looking so stressed and so sad, but there's nothing I can do. She just looks at me, then basically falls into my arms for a hug. I hear her sobbing on my shoulder, and I almost start crying, too. "I don't love him, Niall. I don't like him. I don't want to marry him!" With the last word, her sobs become louder.

"Come with me. There's a nice trail in the forest with some benches; we can sit and talk there." I take her hand, and she willingly follows me into the forest.
