[ By The River ]

Flowers

As days turned into years, everyday since you met Ben you would try and visit him often. You and Ben both grew older yet your personalities were still a little childish. It was the spring of your middle school year before going off into high school. It was going to be a pretty scary transition since you were alone most of the time. Although you had Ben. But, as it rains most of the day then suddenly becomes warm out of nowhere you knew it was almost close to that time of the school year.

Also the bees.

And flowers.

As you hurriedly ran home from school, you just dropped your backpack by the door and headed for the back door. You didn't bother to greet your brother or mom since they were always off in there own little worlds. Kinda like how you were so it didn't really matter to them if you went somewhere random one day as long as you came back. So you always ran to the river to met Ben.

When you reached the river your speed slowed down as you saw Ben lying back with his hands under his head.

"Hey Ben" you said looking down at him.

"Oh hey what's up (Y/n)." He just looked up at you with his scarlet eyes. Then looked back at the sky with no clouds. You eyes then wandered to the sky to see what he was staring at.

"Why are you looking at a sky with no clouds" you say confused then lie next to him.

"Mmmm well it's relaxing to just look up and not have the clouds be in the way of the blue sky."

You glanced at him thinking about why he was thinking like that. You looked at the sky for a little more before getting bored. So you just thought of something random.

You sat up as you said, "Ben we should make flower crowns!"

He stared in disbelief of what you had said and replied, "Um why?"

"You're always at the river let's go into the woods for once" you said standing up and dragging him to the woods.

"N-No way!" He objected, "and besides that's for little kids"

He just walked back to the same stop giving you glares as to not move him again.

You then ran off  into the woods while yelling, "Fine but I'll be back!"

"Where are-" he was going to say something but you were already gone. So he directed his gaze back to the blue sky, waiting for your arrival.

Sometime went by and then some more and before he knew it the sun was setting. He wondered if you had forgotten about him. But he heard shouts and running footsteps. He saw you coming back while he overlooked the fact that you had flowers in your arms.

You knew you took to long so you ran as fast as you could trying to make it back on time. You breathlessly sat next to him while putting the flowers on the ground with a few sticks.

"Sorry it took longer than I thought" you said trying to catch your breath.

"It's alright but do you even know how to make flower crowns?" he asked.

You just smiled wearily while saying, "Not really... but we could try."

You didn't really have that high of hopes of knowing what to do so you grabbed an  assortment of flowers and started to put them in his hair.

"Look"

He raised an eyebrow while asking, "What are you doing"

"Done!" You finished putting flowers randomly throughout his hair. "Aww Ben you look so innocent." you say playfully.

He was about to say something back but he started to sneeze while he tried to brush off the flowers from his head.

"I -achoo- hate flowers!" he says while trying to stop sneezing.

"I hate flowers!" he said still sneezing. You then started to laugh from how he was acting. He just frustratedly looked at you.

"Not funny..." He then threw all the flowers at your face. As you gave him a betrayed look. So you threw some back. This went on for a while as you could hear laughter from how childish you still both were.
