[Maya's POV] [Maya's Bedroom]

I awoke to the sound of birds chirping, annoyingly. The sound of my alarm rang through my head. How am I going to survive today? School. Homework. Community service. Detention. Huckleberry. Maybe I should just fake being sick. No mom would never buy it. I rolled out of my bed the cold wood floor sending goosebumps throughout my body. I quickly showered and got dressed in jeans and a graphic tee with a leather jacket and tied my hair up into a ponytail. I decided to grab a toaster pop-tart on my way to school.

Crawling through my window, I started debating with myself over whether I should go pick up Riley or just head to school. Still mad at her and Lucas I took the subway straight to school. I ignored the world around me, staring at the inside of my locker. All of the sudden, a hand touched my shoulder and I jumped. "Peaches I-" Riley started when I cut her off. "I don't want to hear how you didn't mean to kiss him, or it didn't even mean anything, the fact that both of your lips touched, even when you knew I like him, should have been enough to keep you apart. But don't let me keep you from dating him if you actually still do like him. Love is for the weak, and hope is for suckers." with that I walked away. It was probably harsh but I didn't care since the next month is going to be enough torture for me she should have to endure some of it.

I took my seat in history and waited for it to begin. Riley walked in with her head down, I noticed her eyes were watering. Lucas, Farkle and Smackle all filed in after her. They all stared at me as if I had killed their dog. Well I guess I kind of did kill their purple cat. Ignoring them I took my journal out and started drawing. History class started, but I blocked out everything that Mr. Matthews was saying. "Whats going on with her?" he asked as he pointed to me. I gave him an ice cold glare as Riley started to speak but was cut off by Lucas. "I think she's just going through something right now." I rolled my eyes at his response. "Oh what do you think I'm on my period or something now? Mind your damn business Cowboy." The whole class stared at me. "You said damn..." Farkle cuts in breaking the silence. "Maya detention." "I'm already being forced by my mom to go to detention for the next month so, so much for that huh?" I sarcastically responded. "Go now Maya!" I got up grabbing my bag and left the classroom, slightly ashamed.

I took a seat in detention and fiddled with my fingers. two other people were there. They were the real rulebreakers. "What could a pretty little innocent thing like you could have done to get thrown in here?" one of them asked. I felt like he was making fun of me. "check again freak I ain't no innocent bitch." I replied bitterly. "And you've got a mouth on you too huh? What'd you do?" he continued the conversation. "It's none of your business asshole." He got up, along with his friend, I could see he was tall, strong, and didn't take any shit. They surrounded me so I had nowhere to go. "You can talk some real shit, but do you have the guts to back it up?" I gulped, frightened. I couldn't go anywhere so I had to face up to this douche. "Stand up." he demanded, backing away slightly so I could stand. I jumped to my feet and they laughed. I hate being short. "You don't even have the height for it. Since your a girl, and a midget, I'll let you go. But watch your mouth." They both went back to their seats. I was extremely pissed, not thinking I jumped up. "How dare you call me a midget! Who the heck do you think you are?!" I yelled. "You really want to push me right now shorty?" He threatened. I really didn't so I sat back down. The bell rang, and it signaled that I could go to class. "See ya later shorty. By the way, I'm Mike, who are you?" he mumbled just loud enough so I could hear him. "I'm Maya." I responded as I left to my next class.

I down ignoring the rest of the world, as usual. My next class I didn't have with Riley, but I had it with Lucas. Screw this. He came in and sat down. "Hey what's wrong? Why are you so bitter and grumpy all of the time?" He asked me. I glared at him. "Use your brain ranger rick." I responded. "And why did you yell at Riley last night? You know when we were um... kissing?" I rolled my eyes. "Again, use your brain if you have one." He thought for a minute. "I guess I don't because I don't understand why your punishing Riley for kissing me. You hate me??" "You're right, I do hate you. Leave me alone." "No, I'm not going to let you treat my girlfriend like that without an explanation." Girlfriend. Jealousy rang throughout me as I wanted to puke. "Your girlfriend?? You just got back three days ago and your already back together?" I questioned. "Yes. now I demand an explanation." He would not shut up. "Fine, you wanna know why I'm so mad at Riley? Because before you got back she confessed to me that she doesn't love you and she never really did. And she knows that I like you yet she goes and kisses you anyway! How selfish can one person be? I thought we were supposed to best friends but I guess not." I ranted, I was going to continue but he interrupted me. "Wait hold on a second, you like me? As in like-like me? Like in a romantic way? But I thought you hated me." My mouth gaped opened as I didn't know what to say. Tears starting in my eyes I glared at him in silence for a moment.

"I hate you for loving someone else."
