Lucas
I knew I was different almost immediately. It wasn't as if one day everything just clicked into place. No. That's not what happened.
The moment I could form conscious thought I knew I wasn't 'normal.' I wasn't sure how or why I knew. I always just knew.
I thought of myself lucky. I was physically and mentally gifted. But above that I wasn't deluded by life or society to have idealistic expectations out of life. I knew the world was a place where hopes and dreams were crushed purely as a side effect of the societal rules.
Rules of which didn't apply to me.
I saw the world in black and white.
There were no shades of grey for me.
Good was good. Bad was bad.
There was a right and there was a wrong.
I knew that much.
But I didn't necessarily care about that. In fact I cared very little about right or wrong. I cared about myself. I was all that mattered. Everyone around me was a pawn, a part of my game. A means to an end.
That egocentric phase all children go through never left me. In some ways I realized how much my maturity was stunted.
But I didn't much pay any mind to all the technicalities.
I was content. And when I wasn't I changed the situation so I would be. It was simple.
One moment changed that for me.

Vote. Comment. Let me know what you think.
Lucas, Emmet and Tensely will all get their own chapter later on in the book.
Tensely mostly because she's my favorite character to write and I miss her when she's not in a chapter.
Xoxo
