******** PRESENT DAY ********

I sat in the car and waited for Lucas for another 10 minutes before he finally walked out of the front door. What could he have been doing up there that took so long? I don't want to let my mind wander on that subject. He opened the trunk and threw his bags in before closing it and walking up to the driver seat and getting in.

"Ready?" I asked while eyeing him curiously. His eyes were red and puffy like he had just got done crying. Maybe he is just upset about going back to the house where everything happened. I hope he didn't see what happened earlier.

Lucas doesn't know about my gang business. He knew for two years when I first started, but I got shot once and he begged me to back out of it. So I told him that I quit but in reality I didn't. I go to a warehouse in the middle of nowhere to meet up with the rest of Ravenous while Lucas thinks that I am going to work at a hardware store. I have long conversations on the phone with other gangs in my office at the house and he thinks that I am doing stock orders for the hardware store. Everything is running smoothly.

"As ready as I'll ever be I guess...." He finally spoke as he put the key in the ignition after setting the GPS.

"Look, Luke, I know that it is going to be hard to go back to that house but we just have to move on. It was in the past and we did what we had to do." I said hoping to cheer him up a little bit. Something still seemed a little off about his demeanor. He has never acted like this before.

"I'm not upset about that." He said as he turned around in the seat so he could back out of the driveway, "I'm upset and sort of angry that you have been hiding stuff from me." I froze. He knows. How could he possibly know? I haven't been leaving any evidence behind about my gang affairs!

First off, that might not even be what he is talking about. I am going to ask first. "What are you talking about?" I asked with pure concern and shock in my voice to make myself seem innocent.

"You didn't tell me that Mom was planning on selling the house and going into assisted living!" He yelled out, making me jump in my seat. I sighed out of relief and pity.

"She didn't want me to tell you just yet. Luke, I am so sorry." I said while grabbing his face and making him look into my eyes.

"She wanted to tell you this weekend. It wasn't even really my place to tell you." I said with sad eyes. He turned his head and started driving down the road. I was about to say something but he turned the radio up and I guess that that was my cue to shut up and lay back in my seat. My eyes eventually grew heavy with exhaustion and I let myself fall asleep in the passenger seat.
