Chapter 5 - Back From The Rejected
Riley's POV
"Hey, Riley?" I looked up to see Zach walking up to me, but continued to lace my boots.
"Yes Zach?" I asked as he kneeled down in front of me, seeing how I couldn't lace my boots, and he gently took my hands off, seeing how much they were shaking from nervousness. He tied the black fabric around the boots, then into a bow.
"I know I've said sorry before, but you haven't told me if we're okay. I mean, I know I'm a douche and an idiot, but I don't know how else to say sorry for what I said to you before we were put together." He pulled at the bow, then stood up. I followed after him and pulled out my beanie from my back pocket. As I pulled it on, he kept looking at me to say something.
"We're fine Zach." I said with a small smile.
"Oh thank god." He sighed, obviously relieved. "I didn't think I could go out there without knowing. Thank you." He smiled, making me chuckle.
"You're not a bad guy Zach." I smiled back at him. "Now come on, we have a song to perform." I nodded to the stage, slamming my hat onto my hair, adjusting it as we got to the others. We were handed microphones and I stood next to Lisa before we went on stage.
As we stepped up, Lisa turned her guitar around, and I took mine from one of the technicians. We stood around the x, me standing between Lisa and Logan.
"Hey guys." Gary smiled as we nodded. "Nice to see you again. Have you been practising?"
"Yeah." Logan nodded. "We've bonded quite a lot too." He looked down the line as we smiled at some memories.
"Great. Take it away." He smiled and nodded as we moved around a bit, standing in a semi circle, Lisa and I in the middle. As Lisa started with the guitar in the middle, I caught up with the melody on my own guitar.
(A/N: this is the acoustic version that I will link at the side later on)
[All:] Don't listen to a word I say
The screams all sound the same
And though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
[Lisa:] I don't like walking around this old and empty house
[Jake:] So hold my hand, I'll walk with you, my dear
[Lisa:] The stairs creak as you sleep, it's keeping me awake
[Zach:] It's the house telling you to close your eyes
[Riley:] Some days I can't even trust myself
[Logan:] It's killing me to see you this way
[All:] 'Cause though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
(To the tune of the trumpets: Logan: Da, dada da da da, da dada dada da da)
[Riley:] There's an old voice in my head that's holding me back
[Jake:] Well tell her that I miss our little talks
[Riley:] Soon it will be over and buried with our past
[Zach:] We used to play outside when we were young
And full of life and full of love.
[Lisa:] Some days I don't know if I am wrong or right
[Logan:] Your mind is playing tricks on you, my dear
