I woke up to the blasting bass of Avicii's "Wake Me Up" and groaned. It couldn't be morning already.
"Wake up sleepy heads!" A voice called through the door, and I looked up with bleary eyes to see Sophie stood there witha massive grin on her face and her ipod plugged into a sterio. So that's where the music was coming from.
"You're WAY too cheerful for a Monday morning," Alli grumbled and she pulled a pillow over her face. Groaning I rolled out of bed and shuffled towards my closet. I turned to Sophie.
"What are we even supposed to wear?" I asked, looking at my closet where the Elmhurst year 11 leotard was hung along with a pair of trackies and a jumper with the Elmhurst logo.
"Well most people just put on their leotard and tights and wear the track suit over top to make things easy," Sophie explained. "But you don't need to put your hair up for ballet yet, because we hae that 30 minute break before class. Make use of the freedom of your hair while you can!" she exclaimed grinning. "Because after 11:00 it's gonna be slicked back until the evening!" I noticed that she had taken the time to braid her golden ringlets into a loose french braid.
"Got it." I said, pulling the turquoise Year 11 leotard off it's hanger and the navy blue track suit.
"See you in a bit!" She called, turning to walk down the hall. "And Alli you better get your ass up or else I'm gonna come in there and tickle you!"
Alli's head shot up. "I hear you!'
Sophie and I laughed, and after pulling on my clothes I went to the mirror to do my make up. I put on just a bit of tinted moisturizer-there wasn't much point in foundation-it would just get sweat off in ballet later. I lined my eyes with a bit of smoky gray eye liner-it made my blue/grey eyes really stand out, and put on a few coats of waterproof mascara. I smiled at Allison as she joined me beside the mirror.
"Beautiufl!" she said, admiring my eyes as she applied a bit of blush to her cheeks and a bit of mascara to her upper lashes. To be honest she didn't even need make-up she was so naturally pretty. I ran my hands through my hair a few timesand applied a bit of misted shine to it. It looked best down, so I decided to leave it alone. Alli pulled the sides of her hair up and back into a very Juliet-esqu look. She grinned when she caught me looking. "It's the first day of the year!" she explained, sticking a bobby pin in at the back. "I'm going all out."
"You look gorgeous," I assured her with a smile, taking another look at my scheduale as I packed my bag with the files I'd need for class.
"Just you wait," she said, grabbing a large folder and pencil case. "By the end of the year everyone knows eachother so well nobody bothers with their make-up or hair!"
"Fine by me!" I said with a laugh. "Means we get to sleep in longer!!" Together we hooked our bags over our shoulder and walked out the door.
"To breakfast!" Marie sang as we walked towards the dining hall. Her hair fell in soft waves around her face and the brown eyeliner she's used around her eyes really brought out the honey-tones. Everyone in my year was so pretty! We dumped our bags in the call outside and walked in, grabbing a tray as we did. My jaw dropped. There was loads of food of all kinds, but even more dancers. The older 6th formers had gottent o eat first, and the youngest year 7s were still waiting outside, but still, the place was packed! Eagerly I piled my plate high with eggs and sausages and toast. I grabbed a yogurt and a banana off the counter in the middle, and a glass of juice from the side. "I feel so greedy!" I announced looking at the mountain of food on my plate." Most girls had a similar amount.
"Don't worry," Alli said. "It's really important that you eat a good sized breakfast...you'll need the energy in ballet today!"
"Agreed!" Sophie said, scanning the room for a table. The only empty spot was a large table in the far corner.
