Jaden and Carson slowly drove over to the spot where they left Carson's bike behind. It was tipped over but not harmed. They both watched everywhere to make sure that the living dead weren't coming from any direction. Carson tried starting his bike again and it finally started after a countless amount of tries. They drove back to the house and waited for Jaden's Mom.
"It's been too long Carson." Said Jaden worriedly. They tried the radio again and the TV too but they were still not working.
Jaden then started fixing up them both something to eat. They ate quietly looking out the window towards the road that Jaden's mom left on.
They both finished there meal and thought they would call it a day and hit the hay. They were bringing there bedding to the couches when they heard the zombies from a distance again. "Carson go get the guns and ammunition, I'll go outside and see if they're coming this way." Said Jaden. "Well stay close to the house." "I will."
Jaden stepped out the door and immediately looked towards the west towards the railroad tracks and saw them again, but there were more this time. He ran inside,"Carson let's get everything ready quickly! We need to get on the roof!" Jaden went and got the ladder while Carson loaded all of the guns. Carson ran outside with everything in hand, Jaden was on the roof. "I'll toss everything up to you!" Yelled Carson. When all of the guns and ammunition were up on the roof with Jaden Carson climbed up. Jaden poored gas on the ladder just in case they needed to light it on fire when the zombies try to climb up. The zombies were about 50 yards away from them when they were ready to start shooting. Jaden used the 22 with the long scope and Carson had the 30X30.
"Shoot Carson!" Demanded Jaden. "My gun's jammed!" Said Carson. So Jaden continued to shoot down the zombies that were almost to the house, there were only about twenty of them left. "It's not jammed anymore let's finish them off." Said Carson. So they finished off the last of the zombies and came down from the the roof. Jaden and Carson were becoming stronger and more skillful when killing the zombies.
They were very worried about Jaden's parents, and Carson's parents too. They thought about how there parents could be together at Carson's house in town. But there was a very small chance that that could be the case. "We should take turns watching for zombies tonight, we'll switch every two hours so we can both get some sleep." Said Jaden. "I guess I'll watch first." Said Carson.
The night was long but it finally came to an end when Jaden's rooster woke Jaden up who was the last one to have time to sleep. "Thank goodness that's over." Said Carson. "Hey we haven't checked the TV or the radio in a while, maybe there's a signal." Said Jaden. They both sat on the couch eager to see if something would happen. Jaden grabbed the remote and turned on the TV. Flipping through the channels Carson all of a sudden told Jaden to stop on channel 33. It was fuzzy but there was a faint outline of a man with a thin coat on sitting at some kind of desk in a lab. They could hear what he was saying.
