Draco made his way to Dumbledore's office, walking through each corridor quickly. He had to know. And Dumbledore was probably the only one who truly had answers, though he was not sure whether he would give him the answers he needed. After all, his father and Dumbledore did not really get along well. However, Dumbledore did not really seem like someone who would judge people for the way their parents behaved.
Draco caught a glimpse of a giant gargoyle, made out of stone. That must be it, he thought, Dumbledore's office. He had never entered it before. He walked up to it, and wondered whether the usual spells worked on that thing. Maybe there was some sort of hidden door somewhere?
''Alohomora'', he whispered. Nothing happened. Hmm, he wondered. He checked it's wings for secret entries or some sort of button? He didn't really know what he was even looking for.
''Come on Draco, think like a Gryffindor.'' the blonde boy said to himself. There must be some sort of silly word that opens a door or something similar. What was it that the muggles always said when they supposedly did 'magic'?
''Abracadabra.'' he tried. No response. Merlin's beard. What else was it suppose to be.
~
Harry followed Draco, corridor after corridor. Wow, did the blonde boy not know where Dumbledore's office was or is he just actively trying to get rid of Harry following him. Knowing Draco, he probably didn't even know someone was following him.
Finally, after what genuinely seemed like ages, Malfoy had arrived at Dumbledore's office entrance.
But it seemed like he didn't know how to get in. Harry laughed. It must have been very urgent if Draco decided to impulsively pay a visit to Dumbledore's office, not even knowing the password.
Maybe he should help him, Harry thought. He really didn't seem to know what to do and he was kind of struggling and getting agitated. He decided to help the boy. After all, he liked helping Draco.
''Toffee Eclairs.'' Harry said as he reached the meanwhile frustrated boy.
The gargoyle stepped aside and a staircase appeared, leading upstairs.
''What are you doing here? I thought you were waiting in the Room of Requirement?'' Draco groaned.
Waiting? Harry thought. Was he supposed to wait for him? Was Draco going to come back for him? Harry did not know why but that made him feel funny and warm inside. Odd.
''It doesn't matter, Draco, just step on the stairs, please, before it closes again.'' Harry said calmly. Whatever it was that Draco wanted to ask professor Dumbledore about, it seemed to really get to him. If Harry didn't know any better he'd say that he was worried about him. But that couldn't be, right ?
''Yeah, okay.'' Draco said softly. Did he just blush? Harry asked himself as Draco stepped onto the stairs and headed upstairs.
He decided that he was gonna wait for Draco, he really wanted to know what was so urgent and Draco was gonna come back for him anyways. He really liked that fact.
~
Draco got on the stairs and made his way upstairs to professor Dumbledore's office. He was really glad he told Harry that he was going to come back for him, he was going to be more honest towards the boy from now on. Well. That still kind of depended on what Dumbledore was going to tell him. He had kind of made up his own mind about the whole thing he'd been feeling recently but hearing the professor's view on it would maybe confirm or deny things? That's what he was hoping for, at least.
He was about to ask if he could come in when he heard a voice speak up from the back of the office. And professor Dumbledore emerged theatrically from behind a wall. "Yes, Draco, finally you're here. I have been waiting for you."
He had been waiting for him? How did he know Draco was going to show up? There seemed to be something Draco wasn't aware of.
"I have something to ask you, professor." Draco started. "You want to ask me what the reason behind your boggart is, am I correct?" Dumbledore said. "What, I, how do you kno-"
"Sit down, please, Draco." The professor instructed, and Draco - not wanting to waste any time - immediately sat down in a royal looking chair, with sparkling orange velvet seating and wooden legs that curled at the ends.
"So," Draco tried to get Dumbledore to finally spill what he had been waiting to hear . "It is of great importance that while I explain this to you, in further detail, that you remain quiet and listen." "Yes, yes, of course, I will do all of that okay." Draco responded hastily."As you know, your very boggart, is mr. Harry Potter's passing." Yeah major surprise there, Draco thought and kept looking at the professor with a mix of curiosity and agitation. "See, Harry was not placed and sorted into house Slytherin for no immediate reason, it was to be put in a house with you, Draco. " Dumbledore tried. "But what does that have to do with the boggart? And why me? And was the whole resorting only to get Potter into Slytherin?" The blonde boy had many questions and nothing made sense to him anymore. Not that it ever had. Well, except for some things of course.
"Well it could be formed very simply like that, however, there lies much more behind that decision." "See, something awful was going to happen to mr. Potter in the future. And that certain happening would have a massive and lethal impact on the future of Hogwarts and the world.""Okay but how do you know, professor? And again, what has all of this have to do with me?" Draco said whimsically. "How I aquired this knowlegde is Ministry of Magic business, and I am not allowed and will not tell you." "The role you play in this, Draco, may come as a shock to you, but do not simply throw it away, give it time, and thought." "We have made many attempts at trying to save Harry, and all of them have failed, except for one, and that's love." "Love, is what saved Harry and eventually the world." "And we tried our very best, and used the best spells and magical equipment out there, to find that love, and that love is you, Draco." "You and Harry." "Together" "You can save him, Draco."
Draco was speechless. What was with everyone? First madam Pomfrey, now professor Dumbledore himself. This was just absolutely ridiculous. But was it? He thought about it for a while, staring blankly at the floor, unable to quite phantom what was just said to him. Love. Him and Harry. Together. Love.
Love? Did he love Harry? He didn't hate him, he was sure about that. And the feelings he had been having lately, his heart feeling like it was bleeding, the boggart being the boy's death, the incident just now in the room of requirement where he almost drowned and suffocated in Harry's gorgeous sparkling eyes. Blimey. It all made sense now. All of the tension, the heat rising up his spine the day he saw Harry wearing Draco's attire on the first day. His admiration for the boy when he was younger. It all made sense. He was in love with Harry Potter.
