What??

you understood my question.

who do you have a crush on?

Why should I tell you?

because i want to know

And that's supposed to help me influence my choice how...?

if you don't tell me, i'll tell everyone in my contacts you have a crush on me

Fine, but you have to guess

me

That's not valid.

me

NO.

i'll give you two minutes.

HWY WOGIHSIU NO STOP WHY

one minute.

Do you honestly not know?

so its me?

If it was...?

we'll get to that when we do. is it me?

If it wasn't?

that too. is it me?

I'm not going to tell you. Why do you care anyways?

i want to know

You suck.

whatever. just tell me

No.

Fine, I'll get Ino to tell you.

Her stomach is a bundle of nerves, her breathing echoing around the room. The ellipses pops up, and leaves a so you do on the screen. She exhales. I've dreamed about this moment for years, she thinks. But now I'm too afraid.

Yup. Say something, she begs mentally. Don't let there be an awkward gap hanging over. This has got to be the worst time ever for an awkward gap.

why didn't you just say it earlier?

Well, I'm sorry, but some of us have emotions such as nervousness and a fear of rejection

oh

Well?

what?

Do you like me back?

maybe

How can you only maybe like me??

idk

but

i'm not actually sure

Oh.

Her heart is racing, and her face is flushed. I did it. She turns off her screen and goes out into the kitchen with her book, hoping to grab a glass of water and cool down.

After fifteen minutes of staring at the same word, she decides that the suspense is too great and that self-control in situations such as are overrated. She ditches her book and leaves the glass of water there, walking back into her room and grabbing her phone. She turns it on and sees the notifications.

are you mad

i'm sorry

i just

idk

there isn't another way to explain it

i'm really sorry

well

if you aren't ever going to read these then i guess i'll go for it

yeah

yeah i do

yeah i do like you

Her heart beats, her face turns even redder, and her eyes fill with tears. It's happened. It's here.

Do you actually?

yes. and sorry, 9:30 i gotta go to bed. ttyl tomorrow

Okay, bye. She turns off her phone.

What am I supposed to do now?

As she crawls into her bed, she is warm inside and out. She hugs her pillow and tucks herself under her blankets, which are colder than her.

He is all she can think about, and when she finally falls asleep her dreamscape is empty.

The next day is a weekend, and Sakura spends her entire day texting him. He spends his entire day texting her. She feels special, and within the first day they have established a few facts.

She started crushing on him a few years back.

really?

Yes.

He started liking her before the last summer break. They smooth things over, and the weekend ends too soon. They make a pact not to tell anyone, her last text being a: Don't make this awkward at school tomorrow.

i won't.

School starts, and when Sakura walks into the school building, she sees him right there. She blushes. He blushes. They awkwardly smile and then look away, and repeat. Over and over, throughout the entire school day.

A week.

Two weeks.

And finally, one day he doesn't look away. He continues looking at her with resolve in his eyes.

She looks away. The rest of class seems to drag by slowly, and when she tries to make eye contact again, he doesn't react. He doesn't seem to see me.

Well then, she thinks. It's over.

After class, she catches up with him in the hall and they walk side by side, the guilt immense in her. Finally, after she's about to get onto her bus and he's about to walk away, she turns around.

"Sasuke!!"

His eyes are dull when he turns around. "What?"

"I'm sorry." She pulls herself up onto the bus, and when she sits down he's outside the window, giving her a thumbs up.

Life goes on like that. In the hallways they laugh and smile and tease and flirt, and online they text. Never do the two mention anything that happens online, and hardly ever do they ever mention anything in real life online as well. Online is their world; it needn't break it with mentions of real life.

It goes on.
