Chapter 16- Hu$tle

Aubrey and Roc have been together for 2 years and things weren't looking so good for their relationship. Both of them had lost their jobs and pretty soon, they would lose the appartment. "What we gon' do Roc?" Aubrey asked. Her eyes were sparkling, yet low. "Look...I'll figure out something, don't stress" he answered. The two of them had just turned 21, and their son Kaiden had just turned 1. Aubrey was so stressed out but she kept herself looking good. "What are your plans for today?" Roc asked. "Bathe Kaiden, do his hair, blah blah" she said. "Nah, go out with some friends" he said. "Roc, you know I'm broke" she said laughing. Roc reached in his pocket and pulled out a stack of money in a thick rubberband and handed it to her. "Um where'd you get this?" she asked looking confused. "No need to worry, be happy shawty" he said smiling. She smiled back and kissed his cheek. About 20 minutes later, Roc had to run out and get diapers and something to eat. It was about 6pm and it was already getting dark. Roc pulled up into a dark alley where he was supposed to meet Ray. Ray spotted the car and hopped in. "Aye man, you got it?" Ray asked. "Yeah bruh" Roc said. He reached in his hoodie pocket and pulled out a large bag of weed and handed it to Ray. Ray took the bag and handed Roc a stack of money. "Ight man tell bre I said wassup" Ray said getting out of the car. Roc quickly drove off and headed home. When he got to the house he sat down on the couch and put the food on the table. Aubrey's face frowned when he kissed her cheek. "Why you smell like weed?" she asked. Roc's heart sunk, then he spoke. "You know, walked through some guys who were smoking" he finally said. "Mm, hate when they do that. No type of respect" she frowned. Roc hadn't told her that he sold drugs for a living and he wasn't about to tell her either. He didn't like lying to his girl, but he had to; in order to provide for her and his son. They watched tv as they ate their food. "Be back" Roc said getting up. He went in the bathroom, shut the door, and stared at his self in the mirror. "I can't do this.." he thought to himself. "But I need to provide for my family" he thought. He knew he was making the wrong decision but something was telling him "Think about your family" . He took off his hoodie and splashed water on his face and went back in the room.  "You ok?" Aubrey asked. "Yeah.. just tired" he answered. He kissed her cheek and pulled the covers over himself. "Night" she said. "Goodnight" he said back. The next morning Roc woke up before Aubrey, took a hot shower, and laid back down. As she slept, he watched her. Then he started to wonder to himself. "How could I have done that to her.. cheated on her, lied, everything.." he thought. "I need to get out of this... I need to get out of this gang" he thought again. He looked at his phone. It was only 5:25 a.m. He got up from the bed, wrote Aubrey a note and left the appartment. Roc walked down the busy sidewalk as his pants sagged below his waist, with a black hoodie pulled over his head. He had been walking for a long time until he finally reached his destination. He walked up into the dark alley and approached a tall hooded figure. "I can't do this" Roc finally said. "Whatchu  mean you can't do this" the figure said in a deep voice. "I can't be in this.. this gang" Roc spoke. "You know the motto. Once your in, no getting out" the figure spoke raising its head up. It was Trevor. The lord of the gang. Roc began walking off fast as Trevor yelled after him. "No getting out!" Trevor yelled. Roc ran out of the ally and ran as fast as he could as Trevor ran after him. As Roc ran he began to see something, a spirit, that looked just like Aubrey. "Roc please, don't do this, please" the spirit cried. Everything, and everyone's voices began running through Roc's mind. ***POW POW***. 

**Aubrey's POV**

Aubrey's phone rang : she answers.

Person: Hello, is this the Mrs or Ms . Aubrey Taylor, Mr. Daniels Wife?

Aubrey: Yes his girlfriend, may I help you? 

Doctor: Yes, I'm sorry Ms. Aubrey but your boyfriend has been shot twice in the back. He is at Atlantic medical Care downtown.

Aubrey: No, no, no... 

Her heart dropped so fast she felt it in her feet. She threw her phone against the wall and screamed. Screamed For Help. Screamed as loud as she could. She quickly grabbed Kaiden and ran as fast as she could down the stairs, to the parking lot, into the car. She drove like a maniac to get to that hospital. 

"Where's my boyfriend?!" she yelled to the nurse. "Ms. calm down" the lady said. "YOU THINK I'M ABOUT TO CALM DOWN?! MY BOYFRIEND HAS BEEN SHOT AND YOU'RE TELLING ME TO CALM DOWN??!!!" she yelled as loud as she can. Aubrey was acting so crazy that they had to call security. They even had to handcuff her because she was nearly about to kill everyone. After about an hour, she was calm but still crying. About 5 or 6 doctors came out to tell her the news. "Ms. Taylor, good and bad news" the male doctor started. Aubrey lifted up her head and looked at him. "Good news is that we removed the bullets from the back area, & he has to go in for surgery in the morning" he finished. "And the bad news... the bad news is that he won't be able to walk for a couple weeks" the female nurse said. Aubrey's heart sunk again and tears fell down her face. "Can I see him?" she asked low. "Yes you can, right this way" the nurse said. She led Aubrey to where Roc's room was. Aubrey walked in to see Roc hooked up to some of everything. Breathing tubes, needles, masks, everything. It was terrifying. She walked further into the room and noticed that he was awake. She sat down and looked at him with the look of hurt in her eyes. She couldn't find any words to say... *The Next Morning - 10:15 a.m* The doctors were just bringing Roc in from his surgery. He looked much better than before; he was awake, and talking again. "Now can you tell me who did this?" she asked. "I'm gonna tell you, but please don't freak out" Roc said. She looked at him, waiting for him to tell her. "It was Trevor" he finally said. 

Aubrey looked at him as more tears filled her eyes. "Roc what do you mean.. please explain" she cried. 

"Bre.. I couldn't take seeing us struggle like this. I had to do what I had to do.. which was join Trevor and his gang to help take care of Kaiden. I was putting you & Kaiden in danger and I'm really sorry" he said. She excepted his apology and kissed him. 

*6 Months later*

Roc had healed completely and was doing things on his own now. Kaiden was 2 years old now and  was also walking. The couple had moved to Florida to start their lives over and start clean. Roc walked out to the patio and sat down with Aubrey. 

"What you up to?" Roc asked. 

"Just chillin with Kaiden & Zahir" she said rubbing her belly. (A/N: YASSSS!! Aubrey & Roc are expecting again!!!.)

"You are an amazing mom" Roc said. She smiled and looked at her stomach then at Kaiden. Kaiden looked so much like Roc it was crazy. She looked at Roc then spoke. 

"And you're an amazing daddy" she said kissing him.
