Several hours later, Peter was starting his own bizarre school day.
The halls were filled with conversations about David and his stay in the hospital.
"I heard an M80 went off and blew a hole in his skin"
"I heard he was shot"
"I heard he was mugged"
"I heard..."
"I heard..."
"I heard..."
Finally classes started and Peter was able to escape the rumors.
Or so he thought.
He sat at the front of the room in History and began gathering his materials when the familiar feel of a book spine hit the back of his head.
He spun around to see David's minion, Todd.
"I know you're the one who attacked David with a branding iron, you stupid fuck," he said.
"What?"
Todd threw his pencil at Peter and it burst into flames a few feet from his face and disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Todd turned sheet white and slumped down in his seat.
The class could not have gone any slower but finally the bell rang and Peter ran out.
He was slammed against the locker with a massive force and turned to see Todd holding him to the locker.
"I don't know how you did that magic bullshit but you're going to pay," he said, kneeing Peter in the nuts. Peter groaned and Todd let go, letting him crumple against the locker. Todd wound up to punch Peter but he grabbed his fist mid swing.
Todd looked at his hand in horror as it steamed.
"What are you?" He asked, trying to wrench his hand from Peter's grip
Peter's eyes turned blue and energy wove under his skin.
Todd screamed as his hand turned black.
Then he exploded.
