Evan Aldridge walked down the hall, his shoes clicking on the linoleum floor as he walked.
He took off his hat and entered the room.
The thing, as Evan called it was cowering in the corner.
"You'll never get away with this," it said. "I have foreseen it."
Evan crouched down, pulling a long wickedly sharp knife from his coat pocket. The thing gulped but did not break eye contact.
"Have you foreseen this?" Evan asked, scraping the blade across the thing's bare chest.
"I have foreseen everything," it said. "You will bring about your own demise. Killing me will do nothing. Once the Two are dead, two more will take their place and when they do, they will erase you from existence."
Evan jabbed the knife under its ribcage, piercing its heart.
"That's exactly what I'm hoping, false god."
The thing spat blood on Evan's face and lay still.
A pulse of energy burst from its body and radiated outward.
Evan wiped the blood off of his face with his handkerchief and donned a serpentlike grin.
"It has begun."
