The Two sat across from Mentor on a stack of books each at a table that was also a stack of books. In fact, all of the furniture in the apartment was made of books.
"So you can know anything just like me?" Simon asked.
"Not anymore," Mentor said. "The other Original and I gave up our powers and passed them on. You two are the twentieth iterations of the Two. I do remember a great deal of what I knew with my powers and the rest I fill in with these." He gestured toward the books.
"Can you help us learn more about our powers?" Peter asked.
"I can help Simon and I'll do what I can with you."
"What does that mean?"
"When it comes to omnipotence, I can have you read book after book about it but the only way for you to really unlock your potential is to have a teacher with experience.
"It's best for you two to stay together so you'll learn the book way and then together you'll learn the experience way." Mentor took two thick, dusty books and dropped them in front of the Two.
Peter picked up his book. It was leather bound and had a flame in a semicircle on the cover. Simon's book was also leather and had an eye with rays coming off of it on its cover.
"Alright boys," Mentor said. "I'm going to go get some chamomile tea and we'll get started.
The Two opened their books and began reading.
