Prologue

Jade believed she was ugly ever since she was born.

She thought that her straight brown hair was too plain, and her eyes were the color of toxic waste instead of glistening emeralds. Her skin was too pale, almost like a vampire, and she absolutely detested the square glasses she had to wear in order to see. Due to believing she was unattractive, Jade made sure to never wear any makeup and to wear only the ugliest oversized plaid clothes she could find. She distanced herself from everyone else, even her parents, so nobody really knew much about her.

However, Jade held a secret. Jade was a werewolf, and not any ordinary werewolf either. She was the daughter of an alpha werewolf from a wolfpack called the Shining Star, and her mate turned out to be the son of the alpha from another wolfpack called the Cold Void.

How did she find her mate?

Every year, there was a celebration feast where every wolfpack is invited. This would be a chance for all the wolves to form alliances and maybe even form close bonds. When Jade first met Luke, she thought he was the most gorgeous person she had ever seen. Even though they were only six years old, the air became tense and it became clear that they would be mates in the future.

Jade became incredibly excited and eagerly awaited Luke's first words to her. However, her hopes were crushed immediately.

"You're ugly."

With this statement, Jade immediately believed that Luke hated her. Now, with her mate rejecting her, Jade lost all confidence in herself and believed that she would never be accepted by her family or friends..
