Truth

Chapter 4

"Shit" said John.

"Hm?" Ava replied, in a confused voice, "What?"

"Fuck."

"WHAT??"

"That car is my wife's car. I recognize the make, model, and license plate."

"W.H.A.T"

"Shit. Shit. Shit"

"Wai - Okay - But - You have a wife? Wait, what? The dinner? HUH?"

John drove out of the near vicinity, and parked his car rather far away. He knew he had a few options: face his wife about this, ignore his wife and try to sneak in without getting caught, go in without Ava and leave her in the car, stranded, or simply drive away. Driving away would be a risky option because his wife would immediately be suspicious not seeing him present at the restaurant. He also knew leaving Ava to his car, which could connect to the Internet and had his work email and his calendar, wouldn't be a good idea. 

He decided the best option would be to drive away, and go to another restaurant with Ava. 

"Alright Ava, we'll just go to another restaurant to enjoy a dinner."

"Umm... John, I don't want to do this. You have a wife - why don't you just drop me off with some cash so I can hail a taxi back home?"

John sighed. "Okay."

Ava then said, "Have you noticed that car that has been following us this whole time?"

"Oh yes, that dark grey sedan?"

"Yeah."

John dropped Ava off near the city's subway station. Although the area was fairly sketchy, John reasoned that, because it was the center of the city, Ava would be safe. 

"Okay! Bye Ava!"

"Bye!"

He watched as she got off his car, and longingly looked at her as she walked away. Suddenly, he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. A text!

Grace < Hey! just wondering r u at the restaurant yet? no reason

Seeing this, he drove away. As he drove away, out of the corner of his eye he saw two strangely-dressed men stalking Ava.

"Whatever" he muttered.
