Days went by and Cassie has been concerned; Toby hasn't shown up at school, so she skipped school to go check up on him. She walked up towards the door of his house and knocked lightly. The door opened to see Toby's dad standing there: Cassie just glared at him "What do you want?" He slurred at her. She was about to respond rudely, but Toby's mom came to the door "Is Toby around?" She asked her "Yeah, he's upstairs." His mom answered as she let her in. Cassie quickly went upstairs to his room "Hey Toby, it's me." She said, knocking on his door lightly. The dreary feeling roaming through the house made her a little sick to the stomach "Come in." She heard him say as she opened the door. He was sitting on the bed; he didn't look at her, just at the wooden floor. Cassie walked over and sat down beside him "S-shouldn't y-you be at in s-school right now?" He asked in a low tone. Cassie sighed "I got worried and came here. You haven't been in school for a few days." She said to him. This made her more concerned; he was stuttering and twitching more than normal "You want to tell me what's going on?" She asked him "I'm actually h-homeschooling now" He answered in the same low tone. Cassie was a little upset, but she knew the reason why "I know that there's more to it than that" She said to him. Toby was silent; he didn't want to talk about it and Cassie seemed too noticed. Cassie frowned, but then smiled "You can tell me when you're ready." She said to him. He glanced at her, but then looked back down "I'll let you be alone." She said as she got up off the bed, but he quickly grabbed her hand "Don't go." He said to her. Cassie turned to face him "S-she's gone...my sister is g-gone." He said without looking at her.

Cassie didn't know what to say, she was too shocked to say anything "She d-died when w-we g-got into a c-car wreck." He added as his voice cracked. Cassie held out her arms to him; he just buried his face into her chest and wrapped his arms around her waist "I'm not going to say sorry." She said softly, wrapping her arms around his neck "That wouldn't be enough for you regardless how sorry I am." She said. Toby began to tear up and tighten his grip "He wasn't there. My dad wasn't there for her." He said in anger, but she shushed him while combing her fingers through his hair. Cassie began to tear up as well, but she held them back; she doesn't cry in front of anyone, it would have made it worse if she did. She was always there when the days passed by unless her dad didn't want her home. Though in school; she has been getting into more fights as they bullied her; football player, cheerleaders, or any other random kid. They say a word about him she would, no will hurt them. She honestly didn't care about what would happen with her dad if he found out.

A week later; Toby began acting weird and it began to get harder for Cassie because of school, but it was also getting harder to walk as well. Cassie began dragging her feet; feeling the savvier pain shooting through her body every step of the way. That's what she gets when her dad finds out she's been fighting in school or because he wanted to hit her. She had her bag over her shoulder, walking down the sidewalk. She seen the view of her house not too far away and sighed. She walked into to the house knowing her father was sitting in front of the TV, so she just went into her room to lie down. Later that night; she was in the kitchen making food for her dad while he was watching the news. Cassie could hear the news reporter "This evening a boy killed his father with a knife and then left, setting fire in the woods to cover his tracks." The lady continued "Though there was a fire, the investigators think that the boy had died in the fire, but they believe that the boy, Toby Rogers is still alive due to the fact that they couldn't find the body." Cassie froze in her spot when she said his name. Her best friend is not only a killer, but had disappeared. He's gone; that was all she could think of. Cassie saw her father already got his belt with his gun in the holster and with his bounty hunter badge; before she could say anything he left her there. Cassie felt sick to her stomach as tears began rolling down her face just thinking about her dad killing Toby.
