After a few weeks, I was finally able to talk without coughing or it breaking, I could walk, run, sprint, jog, anything really.
I was getting used to life again.
I missed Luna and her visits. She was always there and now I feel alone. The pack was gone hunting, but I decided to stay here today. I had gone on every hunting trip thus far, after I woke up.
The twins, Elizabeth and Donovan. They both had odd Bluetooth hair. Elizabeth had green eyes, while her brother had his fathers brown. They each had flecks of the other color in their eyes though.
Both took more after their father, like their skin tone. Even if they didn't I would still love them.
"Even racists would think you cute." I coo to them. They both laugh toothlessly. I smile widely and pick them both up. I start to aing "sleep song" quietly.
Play le song
Elizabeth on my left hip, Donovan on my right. I walk into the kitchen and prepare two bottles, one purple and the other green.
Waiting for the microwave to finish warming up the milk, I hum the lullaby Luna sang to me, softly singing the words. They both stare at me with wide, innocent eyes.I smile at them and hand them each a bottle. They take them greedily. They hold them on their old, and I keep singing, gently rocking side to side as I walk.
Gently, I walk up the stairs. Seed walks up from behind and walks next to me.
I must tell you something, (y/n)....
What? I ask
Im not only what I---
He's interrupted by a loud, ear shattering scream. Hurriedly, I set the twins in their shared bed, and race outside. Seed follows.
Outside, a giant black cloud covers the lawn. I walk though it, using my night vision to slightly help. Screams seem to echo through it. I feel so... guilty. I have no idea what's going on, who is screaming, how afraid they must be.
Where are you? I connect my mind with everything in this area, excluding the weak minds of the twins.
Laughing from behind me. I ignore it and walk farther in. I swear I hear someone say, "Young lord, though you are a demon,
I still wish for you to close your eyes."I get even more confused as black feathers start to drop from the sky.
Hearing a scream to my right, I shift into my wolf and bound towards it.
The rake. Two times the size I first saw him. Biting at his leg, I draw him away from the young boy seemingly scared. It turns around, glaring. I snarl and spread my legs farther apart, in a fighting stance.
I glance at the boy and he nods at me. I focus back on the Rake.
I enlarge myself, so I'm as big as him. We are almost as tall as the trees. I shift into my normal form, and taunt it, backing up. I feel laughter bubble in my chest., but I keep quiet. Not today. I will beat it without insanity.
Running away from it and stopping numerous times, I finally make it to the giant clearing by the lake.
It roars at me and stabs at me with its claws. I skillfully dodge its attack. I shift into a giant (tiger/c) tiger , and hear someone whisper "beautiful." I roar at the Rake, and enlarge myself to be his size again.
He snaps his jaws at me, trapping my muzzle in his mouth. I fight the urge to whimper. I shrink myself just enough, and tear my muzzle out. Long, deep scratches now mark my muzzle. Blood falls from it and lands in the grass.
I snarl, lunching at him. He twists and dodges, his claws digging into my back. Whirling around, I snap at his leg, and to my surprise, I bite it off.
He screams and falls backwards, moving way slower now. He shocks me by stabbing at my face, and my back right hind leg. I growl when he hits his mark of my leg, and limp around, continuing to glare at each other.
I shift different forms rapidly, hoping to blind him from the light. He stumbles back and I lunge at him, a wolf now. I bite down hard on his skull aim for his eyes. After biting them out, I retreat. He swipes around wildly about him, then stays silent.
I shift into a smell black cat and slink around behind him. I stand right behind him and shift into a lioness. Lunging for the back of his throat, I clamp my teeth around it. He flails around screaming.
"So hungry! So cold!" It shrieks. I bite down harder, giving up. His claw pierces my side. I pull on his neck, twisting it with my jaw. A large chunk of it stays in my mouth as I pull away.
It falls, lifeless.
I fall onto my side, shifting back into my neko form.
I pant heavily, rolling onto my back.
The...screams... I force myself myself to get up, and shift back into a white tiger in order to get there with balance and stay quiet.
Arriving at the scene, I see River caring for the others wounds. Clarise was badly sounded, but I could tell she would make it. I stumble closer, shifting back into a neko. Arms support me and pick me up, and I look straight into their red eyes, straight face, and black crow like hair.
Set down on a mat, River gives me pain killers, along with many others to make sure there would be no discomfort.
She stitches all my wounds, pours alcohol on them, and wraps them up. Hearing an odd shriek, I look up to see an odd black creature with bat wings swoop down to pick my up. River shields me and it picked her up instead noticing its mistake, it stabs her with a purple dagger with a green hilt. She falls to the ground, and the same red eyes person that carried me jumps up and kills it, the body seeming to disappear.
"River..." David gasps, running towards her before falling on his knees and crawling to her.
I sit up, ignoring how the pain medication isn't helping so much now. I sprint towards her and fall over when I can't run anymore. I army crawl towards her, my breathing deepening with pain.
I struggle to force myself into a crawl, and fail. By the time I was by River's side, I knew she was close to death.
"Alpha? I...I don't regret what I did. Take care of Elizabeth and Donovan. Please." She whispers.
I nod rapidly, tears dripping from my eyes onto her chest. She smiles at the moon that had risen and her eyes fade.
David pulls her to his chest and cries.
I sit on my calves and stare at my lap.
I close my eyes.
Its my fault. My fault she died. If... if I hadn't been hurt, if I had fought the Rake better, she would have lived. The twins would have had a mother.
Getting up, I ignore my pain, the pleas to stop, to go back, I just run. I stop, not knowing where I am, and worry about the twins. I can't leave them.
I start to cry again, sobs racking my body and making my vision blurry. I try to find a way home and can't. I sit against a tree and pull up my shirt.
My bandages are soaked through with blood.
My vision fades in and out.
The last thing I see are two pairs of eyes.
One gold, one sky blue.
