Carly's POV
"No come on tell me." Jason said while we were going upstairs.
"No its fine. It wouldn't be honest, it wouldn't be real so let's get started." He got to his room and he opened his US History book. I started helping him.
"So, where are you guys at right now?"
"We're learning about the civil war and reconstruction."
"Oh ok, that's not too hard...just read the couple of pages you need to read and I'll explain it after you're done. I'll be right back." I left his room before he answered and went down stairs.
"Hey Anny, what's up?"
"I'm leaving, you coming with or are you gonna stay a little longer?"
"I'm staying a little longer. I'm helping Jason with his homework."
"Oh..ok." He was smiling really big.
"IM DONE!" I heard Jason yell from upstairs.
"Alright Anny, I gotta go I'll let you know when I leave."
"Alright..bye I'll see you in a little bit."
"Bye." I hugged him and went upstairs.
I headed up the stairs and I walked into Jason's room. "Alright I'm back. Tell what you understand and what you don't."
"Ok..um...I understand that within the years of 1861-1877, the northern and southern states were losing stuff incommon. The northern states wanted to stop it and the southern states wanted it to continue. That didn't stop, eventu-"
"You only read the overview didn't you?" I crossed my arms across my chest.
"What?! No! Yes.." He looked ashamed.
"Jason, you need to read the actual pages. How about this, you read a page you take a break and explain to me what you don't understand and I'll help you understand."
"Ok, I like that idea."
"Ok, good. Now read."
He started reading and about 15 minutes later he turned around.
"I'm done reading the page."
"Ok. Now tell me what you understand and don't understand."
"Alright, well. I understand that during the reconstruction part of that time in history, slavery ended and I guess the KKK became its own organization."
"And what do you not understand."
"Everything else."
"Hahaha alright, let me explain what all of it pretty much meant. So pretty much its saying that after the Union won the war, they freed about 4 million slaves. While they were rebuilding the South's area or part, they were given new challenges. After things started getting better for the ex-slaves, the KKK appeared and ruined everything. Does that make sense to you?"
"Yes, yes it does." He nodded his head.
"Ok, so answer those questions on the homework and then tell me when you're done wi-"
"Done."
"That was fast but ok. So now read about the civil war since you're done with those questions on the reconstruct-"
"I already did that part. I was thinking that maybe we could talk."
"Oh." He caught my off guard. "Yeah sure, um, what do you want to talk about?"
"Uumm, just, I want to get to know you."
"Why? You don't like me like that, and I don't like you like that. I should just leave, it'd be good for both of us. Bye Jason." And with that I left. I tried calling Anthony before I left their house but it gave me the busy noise so I just left.
