Angelica's p.o.v

The sky was a mixture of red and orange. I contemplated the view as well as the brisk wind. I could not believe how stupid I was...I mean what would Victor think..dang! Since the past few days, we have travelled to an island in the Carribean. The hotel was quite small but its architecture was a class apart. I have never seen anything as such in the 19 and a half years I have lived.

Let me fill you all in, I've ended school a year back and I've planned to attend university but life's unpredictable. The day I was about to jet off to London from Maplethorpe, my dad had a heart attack. I could not back down from my responsibilities. I cancelled my admission and stayed on to take care of him. But, he passed away, a few months right after and my family was devasted. My mum Ana and my elder brother Blake were all I had left. My parents have always given me the cold shoulder, they had always ignored me...since I could remember. I was rarely given a hug and they seemed uninterested in my personal as well as academic life. However, after dad's death, Mum changed and became more affectionate towards me. Blake was always rude towards me. There was a six year difference between me and him. He used to bully me and raise his hands on me. He hated me. And he was my biological sibling. I don't know why my family hated me that much...i mean come on, I did not malign their reputation by eloping or getting pregnant.

I heard the door knocking and I proceeded towards it. It was the room service. I decided to go and tour around the hotel while the suite was being cleaned. I slipped my phone in my pocket and proceeded to the lounge area. The hotel interior was sophisticated and yet so simple. As I reach the reception, I notice that it is not so crowded. Victor had taken the day off today. He had gone to catch up with some of his friends. I had refused to go with him and thus stayed. I followed the stone path engraved in the wooden flooring of the lounge area and it led to the poolside.

I felt something tug at my left foot. When I looked down, I saw that the laces of my sneakers were undone. I groaned as I knelt down to tie them up. I heard someone coughing behind and a familiar voice asked,"Do you need help Angel?"

I quickly looked up and found a known stranger staring at me with a smile adorning his face.

"Daniyal!" I enthused as I jump to give him a hug. He tightened his arms around me and hugged me back.

Daniyal is my best friend. He is Blake's best friend but he sheltered me from Blake's abuses. I guess, he was apalled by Blake's behaviour towards me and he took care of me. I remember him tying up my shoe laces when I could not. It was as if Daniyal were my brother, not Blake.

"What are you thinking of ?" Daniyal asked while waving his hands in front of my face.

"The good old times," I said, coming out of the hug.

He chuckled,"Ah, the memories,"

I sniggered as he wrapped his arm around my shoulders. Daniyal was the only person I really trusted at that time. Though Blake would sometimes be furious when Daniyal would be interacting with me.

"So, how come you're here?" Daniyal asks me.

"I've accompanied my boss, there's a deal to be done about a piece of land. How about you?" I enquire.

"I'm on holidays," he said while winking at me. I raise my brow,"well, i've got a day off today,"

Daniyal signals me to link my arm with his and we proceed to the poolside. We sit on the beach chairs around the pool and we catch up. A waiter asks us if we want to order anything and lists the specialities of the hotel. He explains the culture of Saint Kitts and Nevis and tells us that rum with distinctive flavours such as mango and vanilla forms part of the folklore.

I settle for a Strawberry basil sorbet bellini while Daniyal orders a Foggy Dew after examining the cocktail menu.

"So, what are your plans?" Daniyal asks. I shrug," I am not keen on being a PA, I guess that if I get the opportunity, I'll explore other fields,"

"I know Angel, how hard it was for you to abandon your dreams but don't lose hope." I smile faintly at his words. Daniyal used to call me Angel, that was his nickname for me. The waiter brings our drinks and I take a few sips right after Daniyal and I clinck our glasses. The cocktail I ordered is refreshing and pleases my taste buds. I receive a message as my phone beeps and find out that it is Victor. However, at the same time, Daniyal invites me to dine with him. I accept and completely forget about Victor's message.

I was watching Mere Brother ki Dulhan the other day and I got addicted to it. I mean, the entire moving was so freaking perfect and Katrina rocked as Dimple❗💕

So, what do you think of Daniyal's character?
