Chapter 21 » scream
"For goodness sake Isaac, keep up," I rolled my eyes continuing to head down the corridor, a couple of steps ahead for him.
Scott and Liam had found Meredith and tried to get something out of her to help us find Lydia. We figured out that Parrish was going to be a key part of this. The two of them were ahead of us and I'd just about lost them from my sight because of waiting for Isaac.
There was a pungent burning stench, however, which I followed, wrinkling my nose. I turned the corner, pausing to see Scott and Liam bent down in front of deputy Parrish. His whole skin was charred black like charcoal and his body was covered in burns.
"Ouch," I winced, stopping where I was. The three of them glanced up, Scott then turning back to Jordan.
"Parrish, listen, Eichen's in lockdown. There's no way for us to get out unless Plan B works."
"Plan B?" The Deputy asked, his face drawing into a perplexed expression. "What's Plan B?"
Scott shared a look with me for a moment before turning back to Parrish. "Don't worry about it. Right now, we need you to find Lydia."
"Me?"
"Well," I tilted my head to the side "Not completely you."
He raised an eyebrow and Isaac, who had jut arrived, continued. "We need the other you."
"The Hellhound," Scott finished.
And it wasn't long before we were following Hellhound form Parrish through the halls.
"How's he gonna get through the mountain ash?" Liam asked as we watched him approach the barrier. I swallowed thickly, watching in confusion as Parrish started to walk through the door, a fiery glow erupting around him. The mountain ash didn't stop him at all. He continued walking through like it was nothing.
I raised my eyebrows, glancing at Scott, who then put his hand out, watching it go through the door. There was no barrier there to stop him like there was earlier.
"He's burning it right out of the walls," I said, stretching my own arm out and waving my hand through the door. Nothing.
Scott and I shared a nod and the two of us, followed by Liam and Isaac, started following Parrish right into the tunnels. It was pitch black dark in the tunnels, only a couple of lights illuminating it.
I could hear Lydia yelling for Stiles to run in the distance and I picked up the pace, following the sound of her voice. As we rounded the corner, Stiles suddenly fell back into the four of us. I heard Lydia suck in a deep breath and we all quickly dived out of the way, knowing what was coming.
The beginning of an ear splitting scream came but was then muffled by something. An explosion ripped through the tunnels, the sound shaking the ground and the walls. I leaned in to the person closest to me, squeezing my eyes shut. A persistent ringing bounced through my ears and I winced as I watched a figure appear through the smoke. Parrish walked through, carrying Lydia in his arms. "Where to?"
"This way," Scott said, taking off in the other direction. After the initial shock of it wore off, the rest of us followed.
"There's a gate up ahead," Liam stated, catching up to Scott.
"What about Mason?" Scott asked.
"He's on it," Liam assured, starting to race ahead.
"Liam, slow down!" I called out, levelling pace with Scott as we tried to speed up.
"Liam, wait!" Stiles yelled.
I watched as Liam slammed his hands against the gate. A spark of electricity bounced from it and he grunted, forcing it open. "I told you!" He exclaimed.
