Here we go, yet another story that I've finished. It feels good to know that it's happened again. Though, I don't feel the same sense of "these characters are gone and I'm still so connected to them". Although, maybe my head isn't ready to drop them just yet. I feel like there's still so much of them to explore, even though I'm unsure what. I have no idea what kind of futures I could explore with Hayden and Declan, even though I feel like there's plenty to.
I'm really glad that I finally got to rewrite this, since I've wanted to forever. The original one is incredibly cringey, to the point where it causes my soul great pain to read it. A million thanks forever and always to HollowRyan for being there to bounce ideas off of, and to help me figure out how to make the story more realistic (Seriously in the original in the middle of the trial, the judge decided Alea was guilty of aiding a criminal so she was under arrest IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRIAL so Mason claimed he kidnapped her so that he would get in trouble instead and then Regina bust up laughing and confessed to everything. Like, what the fuck were you thinking, 15-year-old me?)
Also, shout-out to the fact that this rewrite has been in the works since the end of 2013 when Hollow and I actually hashed out this idea that Hayden took Livia home, and her boyfriend beat her and banged her so they could work together to get money out of this. And I had to go back through our Facebook messages to find the information we worked out. From 2013. I wanted to publish this book forever, and I'm really glad that I didn't publish what I had before. This version is definitely not ready for print, but it would be cool if it was someday.
Now that this author's note has become way longer than I anticipated, I do intend to rewrite the epilogue a little bit. My head was a little weird earlier, in that way that I felt creative but didn't have the correct mental capacity to put out something and have it flow. So. I think I might want to redo that.
