The sun rose and stung Sylvia's eyes. "That good for nothing girl never woke me up!" Sylvia shouted. "Cindy! Cindy! Where are you, you little slave?!" She got up and opened her door. "Cindy! Come here this instant!" Nadine came out of her room, rubbing the remainders of sleep from her eyes. "Nadine," Sylvia asked, "Do you know where Cindy is?"

She yawned and sleepily replied, "She isn't doing her chores downstairs?"

"If I knew I wouldn't have asked you. Where could she have gone?" She nervously paced back and forth in the hallway, muttering nonsense. She turned around and pointed at Nadine, "You. Go put on your worst dress. You are to do all the chores until we bring Cindy back."

"What? Why me? Why don't we just hire some servants?" Nadine worriedly asked.

"Because Cindy's good-for-nothing-father left us with nothing!!" yelled Sylvia. Nadine cowered back into her room and shut her door.

Sylvia let out a huff of frustration and paced down the hall in her nightgown. Then she stopped, for she had an idea.

Sylvia got dressed and got ready to go to town. She left and made her way to the town pub. She walked in with her head held high and walked straight to a side door on the left of the pub. She knocked twice and a small slit opened, showing two deep brown eyes. A second later, the slit closed and the door opened into a dimly lit room. In the center of the room sat a table and two chairs. The chair farther away from her was occupied by an extremely muscular man, whose face was hidden amongst the shadows. He was leaning back in his chair with his feet propped up on the table.

Sylvia walked promptly to the table and sat in the empty chair. She sat tall and addressed the matter that she came here for in the first place.

"Rimier, a pleasure to see you again," said Sylvia with a sly smile playing on her lips.

The man named Rimier sat forward and spat back in an icy tone, "Dispense with the formalities, Sylvia. I know what you want and you're going to have to pay a hefty price for this job. And remember, I don't do the killing thing."

Sylvia chuckled and replied, "Oh, that won't be necessary. I want to save the painful part for myself."

Rimier leaned over, "So what exactly do you want me to do?"

"Find the girl. Bring her to me with as little damage necessary. If she is with anyone else, leave them to die. Then you aren't killing them, nature is just taking its natural course, sometimes it just needs a little push."

Rimier shook his head and leaned back, "You are cruel, cousin. It's no wonder your mother and siblings abandoned you."

Sylvia jolted up, a new rage ignited, "Don't. Go there."

Rimier shrugged it off as Sylvia slowly sat down.

"So how much? Thirty, maybe forty silvers?" asked Sylvia, back to business.

Rimier laughed and stared at her, "Only forty? I never knew you were so funny. No, the least I'm taking is seventy silvers."

There was an audible gasp. "But that's a months' worth of food and supplies!" Sylvia protested, "You can't possibly expect me to be able to pay for this and support myself and my useless daughter. The runaway child's father left me with but a small fortune which is quickly deplenishing."

Rimier scowled at her, "You call yourself poor?! Look at what you're wearing! If you really need the money for me to do this job or to live happily, you might want to consider selling your jewels or dresses, because I am taking no less than seventy silvers to do your dirty work!"

Sylvia was disgusted. She glared at him and mumbled, "Fine."

"What was that? Do we have a deal or are you wasting my time?" Questioned Rimier.

"We have a deal," said Sylvia, more clearly, but with the same amount of disgust.

"Very well then. I will leave after you give me the first half of my payment," said Rimier, standing up, and his face finally showing in the light. He had stubble lining his strong jaw, with hazel green eyes. He had a very large scar on his temple, stretching across his cheek.

Sylvia stood also and turned to leave.
