Chapter 1: Lothlórien

Miluiel (Amelia) POV

I take a deep breath of fresh air as my horse, Elaina, and I ride through the forest. Today is my birthday and I have not had the best day so far. So, I decided to go riding.

Jumping over a small river, I give a shout of praise to Elaina for making it over. She has been getting a lot better at jumping. I am very proud of her.

"That's my good girl." I whisper to her, patting her long, brown mane. She gives a small whiney and shakes her head.

All of the sudden, loud thunder booms overhead. Elaina gets scared and rears up which flings me to the ground. I immediately fall unconscious.

When I wake up I see Elaina standing over me. I smile at her and struggle to get up. My muscles are very sore and I give a groan of pain. I look around and see that I am still in a forest. But it looks completely different from the forest I usually ride in. The trees are much taller and they look very different from the trees that I usually see.

I mount Elaina and take off at a trot in a random direction. I have no idea where I am. How did I get here? Why does this forest look so different from the one I was just in? How long had I been unconscious for? So many questions, yet I have no one to answer them.

After hours of riding and still not finding my way out of the forest, I decide to rest. I tie Elaina’s reigns to a tree branch and sit down against the tree. I close my eyes and let out a sigh. What am I going to do? What if I never find a way out of this forest? I know I will not last long without food or water.

My mom and dad! They must be so worried about me. Maybe I never should have gone for a ride this morning. I look over at Elaina and give her a sad smile.

"Get some rest. We are going to try to find a way out of this forest tomorrow. It will be alright. We will be okay." I assure her, but it is more like I am assuring myself.

Laying down, I close my eyes and try to get comfortable. Everything will be alright, we will find our way out of this forest tomorrow and find our way home. With this thought, I eventually drift off to sleep.

I wake up with a start, a loud noise had woken me up. I relax when I realize that it is just Elaina. I walk over to her and stroke her nose.

"Good morning, Elaina. I hope that you got plenty of rest, we may have a long day ahead of us." I greet her as I mount her.

We stand there for a moment. I am not sure which direction we should go in. After another few minutes I finally decide and we take off at a trot. I look around in amazement at the beautiful forest. I wonder what forest I am in.

I feel as though I am being followed. But, who else would be in this forest? There are no trails and it doesn't look like many people have been through here before.

We ride for a while longer, I still cannot shake the feeling that someone is following me and Elaina. I stop and scan the area, but I see nothing. I am about to start moving again when I hear a voice.

"Who are you and what are you doing traveling through this forest?" The voice asks.

"My name is Amelia and I am trying to find my way home. I am lost and I have no idea how I got here." I tell the voice cautiously.

"You have to come with us, we need to take you to Lady Galadriel." The voice informs me and I finally see him.

He has long blonde hair and has a bow in his hand and a sheath of arrows on his shoulder. A few more men who look similar to him, also having bows and arrows, are standing behind him.

I get off Elaina and walk towards them.

"What is your name? If I may ask." I question the man, curious of who he is.

"I am Haldir."

After a short time of following Haldir, and the other people who are with him, we come to a beautiful place that looks like a castle but is carved out of trees. I stare at it in awe. I wonder where we are. This looks like a place a King and Queen would live.

I am deciding whether or not I should ask Haldir. He scares me a bit, all of the men I am walking with do. I think it's mainly because of their weapons. He looks over his shoulder at me and I muster up enough courage to talk to him.

"Where are we?" I ask Haldir.

"We are in Lothlórien. Home of Lady Galadriel and Lord Celeborn." He replies. "Come, we need to talk with Lady Galadriel."

We walk into the beautiful place that is called Lothlórien. I have to leave Elaina with some of the men, but I promise her I will be back soon. We walk up a flight of stairs and I cannot help but to look all around me.

The way the trees are, and the lights all around. This is a breathtaking place. I get a closer look at the trees and notice that they are more of a silver color. I have never seen trees that look like this before. It is so interesting.

We stop at the top of the stairs. And, at first, I am confused why we stopped. Then a lady, who has long blonde hair and blue eyes and in a beautiful dress, being escorted by a man, who also has long blonde hair and blue eyes, steps forward. The lady has what looks to be a crown of some sort on the top of her head and I immediately guess that this is Lady Galadriel and Lord Celeborn.

"Who is this young one, Haldir?" Lady Galadriel questions in a soothing voice and smiles at me.

"We found her riding a horse through the forest. She told us her name is Amelia and that she is lost and trying to get home." Haldir explains to her.

"Where do you live, Amelia?" She asks me.

"I live in Auckland." I answer.

"And where is that?"

I look at her, confused that she does not seem to know where that is.

"In New Zealand. Where am I?" This time I ask her a question.

"You are in Lothlórien." She replies.

"Yes, I know we are in Lothlórien. Haldir told me. But I mean what is Lothlórien in?"

"Middle-earth." She tells me, and she looks just as confused as I do.

Middle-earth? What is Middle-earth? I have never heard of it before. I am just getting more and more confused. I still do not understand how I got here and who exactly these people are. Hopefully I can get some answers.

"Well, I am from Earth and I would really like to get back. I have no idea how I got here. I was riding through the forest on my horse, Elaina. There was loud thunder and I was thrown off of my horse and knocked unconscious. Next thing I know, I woke up in a strange forest. I just want to get home."

Lady Galadriel gasps and her eyes grow wide.

"Miluiel?"
