Chapter 3
I pick up Mitch still sound asleep. The sun still setting I bring him back to his house I knock on the door and walk in to find Mitch's little sister Luna had tears going down her face like a cascading waterfall. I hurry and put Mitch in his room, lay a blanket on him and kiss him on the forehead. I shut the door behind me and go to sit by Luna she is like another Tess to me. Right as I sit down she put her face on my chest to get a comforting hug. She continues to cry but I never ask why because I already know. Impoundment. This is her first year, I wasn't as afraid because I had nothing to lose except Mitch he is all that I had. She has everything to lose she has family. She ended up falling asleep in my arms. I closed my eyes and smile as I fall asleep.
* the next morning*
I wake up to luna shaking me awake and screaming "Its time for breakfast!" I squint my eyes open to see that Tess is making eggs in the kitchen. How did she get them? How did she know I was here? Oh well I finally get to have a decent breakfast. This is going to be a great morning, until I hear screaming coming from Mitch's room.
Mitch's P.O.V

I am watching Jerome on the projector in my house. Watching the volunteers in the arenas. I look up at the screen and see Jerome fighting Soren the guy who killed my sister. Soren swings his axe the blade toward Jerome's head he moves just in time. The Soren hits Jerome in the back of the head with the blunt end of the axe. It made him fall to the ground blood pouring out if his head I gasp and yelled for him to get up even though I knew he couldn't hear me. Soren went and stood on top of Jerome bent down and whispered," Mitch will watch me kill you like I did with his sister, but this time I am going to enjoy it even more!" He brought the axe over his head and brought it down. Right before it hit Jerome's head I woke up. Sweat was running down my face with tears. Jerome ran in with the most worried look on his face.
"What happened? Why are you yelling?" He asked as he walked over to me for a hug.
"It was terrible Jerome..."
