Naomi

I sat in front of the intimidating couple who were held a straight face, not even a smile peeked through.

I took in a deep breath as they went over my resume.

"So have you had any experience with kids?" I nodded my head and kept eye contact with both and tried to stay calm. "I had a couple siblings I babysat from time to time, I spent my summer raising money babysitting when I was younger. I work in a day care now but they don't have set time for when I should be there and like any 18 year old in school I need the money and the time. Sorry for the rambling" she looked up and looked at me finally showing an emotion.

Mrs. Hood smiled showing off a set of straight white teeth. "I understand very much sweetheart. Except I was more worried about what I would wear to my next party rather than how I was going to pay for rent. You're resume is pretty nice but we're here to cover you and how we feel about you."

"Thank you for adjusting to my time, very unprofessional but I promise you that this won't be happening in the future...if there is any future between us I mean." I fidgeted with the bracelet on my hand looking between the husband and the wife.

"So when is it that you do go to classes?" He leaned forward and adjusted his stare straight onto my face.

It was the first he said besides a plain 'hi' and small wave. He seemed more intimidating than when he first walked in.

"Oh um well I go Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday"

"Time?"

His wife was now distracted by her phone leaving the conversation between us. "Sorry, just around 5pm til 10. Depending on how many classes I have then"

He leaned back in his seat and took a slow sip of his coffee, licking the little drop on his lips and never breaking eyes contact with me.

A smile rose on his lips as he held his wife's hand gaining her attention.

"I think we've finally found what we've been looking for" They both smiled at each other and they both had a look of sureness and something else in their eyes.

"I think so too. Your background checks out, you look like a really nice, not to mention pretty, girl. You seem great with kids and know how to handle time. I think I would like to do a public meeting next time, a restaurant maybe"

I felt the joy bloom inside of me. I was never this excited to have a job. "Oh God thank you so much. This is greatly appreciated Mr. and Mrs. Hood."

"Oh you can call me my name, it's Vanessa" she giggled and started getting her things together.

"And my name is Calum..."

"Thank you so much again, I won't disappoint"

"Oh I know you won't" Calum replied slyly brushing my hand.

"You have our number Naomi and we have yours, can we meet you at 12:00 at let's say Yuki Sushi on Friday? I'm more fond of lighter foods during the afternoon"

I nodded, "definitely. I will be seeing you there Friday at 12"
