arabelle 's pov

All too soon, it was Monday, August 27th, and the day I was to start school in Bradford.

"Mum.." As I bit my lip, my voice trailed, my eyes fixed on anything but my mother.

"Maybe could I just leave it another week?" I asked hesitantly, quickly adding, "I can start next Monday instead. Just to get used to Bradford, and... and stuff."

Mum looked at me as if she had been expecting this, and shook her head. "Belle, you know you can't do that."

"But why not?" I asked her, my voice raising slightly.

"Because, nobody can just postpone the things they don't want to do for later. You just have to... y'know.. do what you gotta do," she said, shrugging.

I scoffed. "Do what you gotta do," I mocked her, crossing my arms.

"Arabelle, get dressed. You're going to be late," mum said firmly, turning away from me and turning on the tap, about to start washing the dishes.

I groaned, and then started to leave the room, but stopped at the door as an idea came to mind.

I moaned, clutching my stomach, and mum looked to me in surprise.

"I feel like I'm gonna be sick," I groaned.

For a second I thought I had her fooled, but then a smirk came upon her lips. "Nice try. Get dressed, now."

I scowled, muttering curse words under my breath as I left the room. I made my way up the stairs and walked into my bedroom, a soft sigh leaving my lips.

I stopped in my room and just looked around, in no hurry at all. It was only a few minutes past seven anyway, and school didn't start till nine.

Hearing the sound of rain against my window, I walked over to it and stared out it, taking in the type of day it was that day, in terms of weather. Rain fell onto the ground, causing the puddles that were already there to slowly increase in size. I liked falling asleep to the sound of rain - but I was going to have to go to school in that rain, and I sure as hell didn't like that.

I sighed for what seemed like the millionth time that morning, and walked over to my wardrobe. I stared at all of the clothes in it, but didn't actually try and pick any of them, too busy in deep thought about how the day might go.

Eventually, though, I snapped back to reality and actually thought about what to wear. I ended up just wearing a white t-shirt, grey sweater and black leggings. I never liked skinny jeans - they always irritated my skin and always seemed to be too loose around my waist - so I never wore anything accept leggings, or shorts if it was warm.

I did my hair and then put on a bit of makeup. I sighed and looked at the time to see it was just past seven thirty.

I groaned and walked over to my bed, flopping down on it and taking out my phone, proceeding to boredly scroll through twitter.

Time seemed to go really slowly, and so before long I had nothing to do. I walked downstairs and looked through my bag, making sure I had everything - even though I knew I did.

Fifty three incredibly boring and slow minutes later, mum's voice echoed through the house, as she called, "Belle! Get ready to go."

By this point, we had already agreed that she would be driving me to school that morning.. Stepping out after my mother, I felt small droplets of rain hit against my face as soon as I walked out. I squinted my eyes slightly and followed mum to the car, careful not to step into any puddles as I did so.
