arabelle 's pov

At first, I had been assuming that the black haired boy who had sat beside me and had taken Connor's seat, was going to turn out to be the school's badass or something of the sort, but I was proven wrong when I asked Connor.

"The boy who took your seat," I had started, my eyebrows furrowed together as Connor walked alongside me through the corridors, on the way to our next class. "Who is he?"

"Oh." Connor bit on his bottom lip for a moment, seeming to be thinking about it. "Well, he's... Zayn? I'm pretty sure that's his name."

Thanks to one of the teachers (who had called him out for not paying attention during class), I had already learnt that his name was indeed Zayn, but I just nodded my head to what Connor had said rather than telling him I already knew that.

"But is he like..." I trailed off, unsure of how to phrase what I wanted to say as we entered Room 17, where our next class would be held. I followed Connor towards the back of the room. "Is he popular, or...?"

"No, no." Connor shook his head as he sat down in one of the seats and plopped his bag onto the ground, kicking it under his table as I sat in the seat next to him. "As far as I know, he sort of just keeps to himself. I don't really know him, he's never been in one of my classes before."

A soft "oh" left my lips as I took in what he had said. A few moments later, a girl with straight blonde hair sat beside me with a smile. She seemed overly happy, which made me a little uncomfortable.

"Hello!" She exclaimed, sending me a wide smile.

"Um, hi?" I replied uncertainly, for a moment wondering if she was actually talking to me. If she wasn't, that would be awkward.

"You've scared her already," I heard Connor chuckle from where he sat, and so I turned to look at him.

"Oh, shut up," the blonde haired girl rolled her eyes playfully as she spoke back to him.

"Arabelle, this is Jessica," Connor informed me, gesturing towards the girl.

"But no one calls me Jessica," she told me, shortly glaring at Connor, "he knows I hate being called that. Call me Jess."

"Oh, okay," I said, feeling a bit awkward and uncomfortable, because I didn't know what to say, and I was afraid I would say something wrong. "I'm assuming you two, are...? Like, a couple?"

"No, no!" Jess shook her head and then bubbled out a laugh, "God no. I have a boyfriend."

"Oh," I mumbled quietly. As I had been fearing, I said something wrong. I hoped it wouldn't become awkward after what I had said, and much to my relief, it didn't.

"Yeah. His name is Penis." With a nod of his head and a smirk forming on his lips, Connor looked to Jess.

"What?" I asked, a small laugh leaving my lips.

Jess rolled her eyes. "His name is Jay Dickinson. Connor just always calls him Penis because he has dick in his second name and he thinks it's funny."

Connor was laughing in his seat, his eyes squinting a small bit as an adorable laugh left his lips. "It is funny!"

Jess shook her head at him, but then a teacher walked in, so Connor was forced to hold in his laughter to avoid getting in trouble. Zayn walked in just after the teacher did and sat in the empty seat beside Jess, probably because it was the only seat left that wasn't near the teacher.

During the rest of the school day, Connor and Jess insisted that I should meet up with them after school in a nearby cafe. "I can introduce you to Jay!" Jess had exclaimed excitedly. I was very surprised that anyone had even talked to me in the first place, let alone invite me to meet them after school, so I took the offer and agreed to it.
