A/N: hello! i apologise for not updating this book for so long; i took a long break from wattpad, but im back now, and i promise updates will be a lot faster from now on :D
since it has been so long since i've updated, i am going to do a quick recap of what has happened so far in the book to refresh your memories!! x
RECAP/SUMMARY: at the start of the book, arabelle, the main character, is just moving to bradford, because her mother has been offered a job there. she goes to a new school, which is where she meets zayn. (and her new friends, connor, jess, and jess' boyfriend jay.)
zayn isn't particularly nice to arabelle and she's intimidated, maybe even a little frightened, by him. she finds out from her newly found friend, connor, that zayn keeps to himself in the school and doesn't hang around with anyone, atleast, not anyone in the school. he just stays on his own and tends to never talk unless he has to, so it's a little bit surprising that he talks to arabelle, (even if their behaviour towards eachother isn't exactly friendly. quite the opposite, actually.) and according to her friends, the only person zayn's so rude to is her.
arabelle is quite fascinated with zayn, because from the times she has seen him around outside of school, he seems to be up to something, but she has no idea what. (to see what i'm talking about, check chapter 4) he also misses school a lot for some unknown reason, so she has confronted him for it, even though it's not really any of her business, and it resulted in an argument between the two. even though she is fascinated by him, he frustrates and angers her to no end. she hates him quite a lot, or at least she acts like it. she isn't sure exactly how she feels about him.
zayn appears to hate her aswell, though she can't quite figure him out.
that's a quick summary of the book so far, sooo i hope you enjoy this chapter! xx

arabelle 's pov
Over the course of a fortnight, my communication with Zayn became very limited. Part of me had hoped at first that perhaps I would be the one to figure him out, to find out what he was really like. Maybe he would secretly like me or something, and then he'd protect me from anyone and I'd find out he was secretly a softie and I'd fall for him and he'd fall for me too and -
Of course, though, that stuff only happened in shitty romance novels, and unfortunately didn't happen in real life. And so, I realised that Zayn was genuinely just an annoying, cocky dickhead that found amusement from pissing me off and probably others, too. Therefore, I no longer had any inerest in trying to talk to him. He clearly disliked me, and so I disliked him too. The only thing he had going for him was his looks as far as I could see.
There was no doubt that he was a very alluring being, but unfortunately, even if I did want to figure him out, it didn't seem like that would happen. Or maybe I already had. Perhaps he truly was what he came across as, a cocky little shit who liked to think he was badass by smoking, skipping school and driving a shitty looking car.
Zayn didn't make an effort to talk to me either, but he would often smirk at me tauntingly whenever we saw eachother, as if making fun of my every move, without even saying a word. If he was trying to make me feel small, it was working, because the smirk he gave me, that made it seem like he was holding back laughter, made me feel very judged, and therefore I began to question everything I was doing whenever he looked at me like that.
