Mad World

chapter 2:

I was so glad it was Saturday today honestly because it was a bad day, I felt so sick and I was in a lot of pain. As soon As I wake up I try to go back to sleep as always on Saturday. It never even crosses my mind that today was my 21st birthday until Kim and my mother call me downstairs and mention it.

On the table I see a blueberry muffin with a candle on the table. I didn't want to be 21 honestly, just another less year to live.

All I hear is my younger sisters and brothers run into the kitchen hugging me and screaming, "HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY JESSICA!" I laugh as they all swarm me. Kim must have come over early today to set up my party. Everyone in my school was invited and coming, (as I said my school wasn't so big so that wasn't too much but still sweet that everyone was going).

Most hadn't seen me since I left but just a few days ago I visited Gro and mrs. G. Kim and my mom slide a card over to me. I sigh not wanting anything from them.

I open it though knowing its only polite. Kim and my mom smile excitedly at me and the first thing I see is a card with these cute little puppies. I had a huge love for puppies and animals in general. I open up the card and there are tickets inside, which I pull closer to my face and read the caption that says, "backstage pass:" and right underneath is something that makes me literally scream at as highly as my lungs can allow me.

"One Direction." Kim and I jump up and down as I hand her one of extra ones (there were 3 in all) that I have.

"I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU GOT ME THESE GUYS. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!" I pull all my family in for a hug along with Kim seeing they all contributed. They laugh at my excited ways. "I have to go tell Krisa about this!" I say walking upstairs with Kim following behind my slow ass self. When I walk into my room I see my puppy Flynn and cat Pucca sitting with someone who literally makes my jaw drop.

"Dad.." I hadn't seen my dad in 2 years. Kim looks at him shocked. Kim was the person who would want us to talk alone but I turned and gave her a pissed face that says, "if you leave me alone with him, I'll kill you." She gets it and steps forward. She was going to have to make sure I wasn't too rude because honestly my dad just shows up randomly after two years of not being there, so I was aggravated.

"Jess, before you say anything I have to talk to you alone." Kim turns to leave but I stop her turning to my dad.

"You won't say anything if you can't in front of Kim." He knew I wasn't changing my mind, I was as stubborn as a horse.

"Jess, I can understand you're mad at me but can I at least explain?"

"You have five minutes, and I doubt it'll be convincing either." I had so much hate inside me from him leaving us. But also so many questions sadly.

"When you were diagnosed with your cancer, it killed your mother and I so much we got into a lot of fights. I never stopped loving her but I was in so much stress that I ended up leaving. Look Jess, I left because of a lot of reasons."

"Did you stop loving me? Or mom?"

"What?! Of course not. Jessie, the main reason I left was me being afraid to see you grow up with so much pain in your body and knowing you wouldn't live long enough for us to be gone most likely. The financial stress was great though too." I shoo Kim out of the room thinking I have calmed down enough.

"Dad, do you get how much stress this was for me too? I mean I literally found out I was going to be in such pain, have to leave school, never have a family, and worst of all have to find out in only a few years I'd be dead from cancer and they can't do shit about it!" I quickly calm down and apologize for cursing.

"I realized that it was harder on you then anyone else Jessie after thoughts but I also saw that it was very possible for you to hate me so much you wouldn't care. As time went by I thought, this will be the second birthday she won't have her dad because he betrayed her. I have to let her know the truth."
