caramel oozed onto her dress and coated the clouds with a thin veil of sweetness. chocolate spilled from the clear-blue sky like syrup from a glass, and peppermints got caught in the sun rays, spinning in circles before her. the crystal trees and sugared flowers swayed in the wind, smiling.

she frowned.

she wanted to scream, to yell, to cry, but the wind urged her not to. it kissed her on the cheeks and bid her goodbye with a soft breeze, but she didn't notice.

it was too perfect, too pretty outside. she held up a mirror to her face and gasped.

the half-body of a blackbird stared back at her.
