The Lost Princess

Prologue

When I was 7, I found out I was adopted by my stepmother and not knowing the reason why she adopted me and who were my parents.

Until I turned 13, little did I know, I myself discovered the reason behind all of these.

My stepmom was sick and she was a survivor herself. Her husband left her because  she's impotent,  she couldn't bare the thought of losing his husband and not giving him a family.

But it didn't hindrance my mom to live her life, again. She worked very hard for our house, 2 years after the separation, Yes, she is still married. She found out she has a stage 1 ovarian cancer. She was very sad and depressed not until she had me.

She raised me very well, she treated me like I was her own child, like a princess.

She has her diary. I know it's not good to read someone's but I was really curious. That time I was 13 years old, I have read she's sick, her husband left her and she has nothing with her, I'm her family, the only one. I don't know where her husband was and I don't care anymore. 

I promised myself to take care of her like what she did to me. While attending school, I also work as a writer and student assistant, I'm a full scholar that's why I'm free to attend private school. My mom has her pension, but that's not enough for her medication and hospital bills.

Until I reached 18. I stopped schooling and decided to work as a full time service crew near our subdivision. I have been through a lot of hardships but this is for my mom. I love her.

"Iha, anak. Para sayo"

"Ma? ano po ito?"

"Buksan mo anak ko" I held her hands and put the small box in the table.

"Bakit mo po binigay sakin to mama?" I found myself crying inside, I felt there was something wrong.

"Oras na para malaman mo lahat Alissa, Anak" Mama's crying, she was hospitalized and found out she was stage 4, I know she was really tried, she was bleeding and hurt. I want her to rest, this is so painful.

Before I open the box, I hugged her tight, kissed her and tell her how much I love her. She closed her eyes and told me...

"Gabriela"
