Tyler's P.O.V

Today was just like any other normal day. I was at my friends house playing Call Of Duty because why not. His mom made us breakfast which I always appreciate because it's the best. We move back to his basement content with our breakfast to play C.O.D when suddenly my phone starts to buzz.
"Dude, your phone was like that all night just look at it already" my friend said clearly annoyed. I turned around and gave him a face saying I was confused. If it was ringing all night wouldn't I have heard?. I reach for my phone which was on the coffee table and see that I have 12 missed calls and 6 voicemails as well as a bunch of texts from both my sister and my parents. I immediately stand up and remember that I forgot to tell them I was sleeping over Dylan's house.
" Oh shit" I say
"What wrong Tyler, why was your phone buzzing so much?" My friend Dylan asks
" I forgot to tell my parents I was staying the night, fuck I have to go bye!" I run out of the house saying goodbye to Mrs. Sommer on my way out. I jump on my skateboard and move as fast as I can go. Without even thinking I slam into someone toppling over them, I hear a small whimper and than no noise at all. I look down my head spinning from everything that had just happen. I stand up and see the person who I had brought down and it was Ciara. A wave of guilt washed over me and I picked her up quickly but gently. My house was in sight and I walked as quickly as I could leaving the broken skateboard behind. Once we reached the door I knock as loud as I possibly could. My mom opens the door and knows what happened by the look on my face.
"Tyler we have to get her to the hospital quickly meet me in the car" She said worry clear in her voice
"Okay" I said quietly not wanting to say anything else
Minutes later we were in the car driving to the emergency room, my mother driving as fast as she could go without breaking the speed limit. We enter the hospital and all I could hear was shouting coming from all directions. They take Ciara out of my arms and put her on a gurney. She is sped off into the distance. My mom calls Ciara's parents and walks away from the noise. I'm left alone for about 10 minutes until a doctor comes around and tells me that I could go see Dakota. I take the chance a sit in her room next to the bed.
"I'm sorry" I say not looking at her
"I should've paid more attention to where I was going. You wouldn't be here sitting in this bed if it wasn't for me. I know we don't know each other but--" I was cut off by someone telling me to close the shades i do as I was told and when I look back I see that Ciara was fully awake. She asks me what happened and I told her the full story. I tell her that I was so sorry but she kept telling me to not apologize. Her family had came and brought her clothes and food, her sibling making fun of her but she didn't care. Her best friend Danny came by as well bringing her a get well soon balloon and a stuffed teddy bear, they talked for a while as I stood outside in the waiting room giving them all some space. My mom had left a while ago in a taxi leaving me the car for whenever I was ready to go home. Danny swiftly came out the door, searching for someone with her eyes "You" she says suddenly
"You take care of her tonight I will be here as early as I can tomorrow but remember you hurt her and you have to go through me" she said with her eyes telling me she wasn't kidding
I was at a lost of words so I shook my head quickly telling her I had gotten her message. She gave me one last look and walked away past all the nurses running away. I open the door quietly and walk up to Ciara's bed light snores coming from her mouth. I tuck her in lightly and whisper goodnight. I turned off the lights in the room and tried to make myself as comfortable as possible. I text my mom a quick goodnight and put my phone on the night stand, this had been one long day.
