Chapter 5
I wake up to find Izzy sitting on the barrier that seperates the floor from open air.
"Izzy!" I shout. Izzy turns around and smiles at me. She swivels around and jumps back onto the building.
"You weren't thinking I was about to jump, were you?" she asks, teasing me. She traces my collar bone and presses her lips into mine.
I gently force her off. "You know I'm scared about you. And, you know." I gesture to her stomach.
"What?" Her tone is convincing but the agitate in her eyes reveals it.
"I know your secret, Izzy. It's okay."
Izzy is speechless. She sits down and buries her face in her knees.
I sit next to her. "I'll be cool having a kid around here."
"But... we're nearing the end of the world, Alex. What could happen to us? What, more importantly, could happen to you? That lady said you would die. I don't want to be alone again." A tear traces down her face.
I put my arm around her and give her a kiss on the forehead. "You know I won't let that happen."

I work for a couple of months in the basement, making a little something to get rid of the aliens. I swirl around ingriedients in a bowl, squeezing and pouring, scouring and pounding. Trying to make a repellent is hard, and I always need to make tests on the unearthly beasts. Izzy has been growing bigger, her stomach rounding with the baby. She always feels awkward, having only cravings for apples, which I bring to her happily. She munches them down and we laugh in our own little room. It seems like we're a couple now, married and in the stage of childhood. With each month, her stomach grows plumper.
My thoughts are ripped from my mind as I look down at the solution. I let out a gasp as my liquid begins to glow a neon yellow color. It's finally done.
All I have to do now is give this to one of those monsters and they'll be gone. Finally gone. I sit back in the worn leather chair, staring at the ceiling, amazed. They'll be gone.

The world is safe now. I gave the solution to one of the aliens and all the DNA samples alike to it were immediately terminated. Izzy and I are close to having our baby, and we can't wait. She's grown to be so large, I can't fit my arms around her, which is strange. I've read in books that babies don't grow this large. And when I press my hand to her stomach, there are always more than one kick at a time. So I wonder... Izzy has to wear her old clothes all the time, which embarrasses her because they're so small on her. I think she looks simply cute, but she just rolls her eyes at me.

I rush down the hallway, skidding down the stairs. I hear Izzy howl in pain, the labor beginning.
"Doc! Doc!" I shout. "It's time! Hurry!" The doctor bursts out of his room and runs alongside me as we rush into our room. Izzy lies on the bed, sweat pouring down in beads. Her stomach bobs up and down, bigger than ever. She lets in and out heavy breaths and cries out as the doctor gets her her child...

It turns out, Izzy was pregnant with not one, but eight children at the same time! That's why she was so big! We have four boys and four girls, and we're happy now. I'm lucky to have a happy ending.
But what'll happen to our children? What will happen next? The chapter of this story may not be over.
