"Time to wake up, young mistress." I said, pulling the curtains open. She sat up and yawned.
"Breakfast?" She asked wearily.
I listed them to my mistress, walking into her closet. I picked up  white dress to get the blue one, and my eyes flashed pink for a second. That horrible white, shining bright. I tossed it aside, more then for a maid should have, and picked up the dress. I wondered if Mistress Oliver, called Oli, did it to spite me. I turned back to her. She was sipping her cup delicately. My stomach twisted. She was a brat. She set down her tea, and I dressed her. She sat back down on the bed so I could put on her shoes. I did so and stood and bowed and turned away, walking to the door.

It opened the same time I reached for the handle, and the door swung into my face. I blinked in suprise. 'mother, Karen, rushed in, paying no matter to me. But I understood. Today was the day Oli would meet her to-be step-sister, who had come back from her wedding. I rubbed my nose. My masters mother started blabbering like she did, touching right under Oli's mouth, her nail close into her mouth. I felt  jerk, and Oli quivered. Karen stood back and exaimned her daughter. She turned around and saw me in the shadows.

"Who are you now?" She asked. I bowed.

"I am Raven your mistress. Your daughter hired me to personally take care of her when she returned." I said quietly. I swear, bowing to humans is not one of my favorite things, maid or not. Mrs. Rosenbloom nodded slowly.

"I remember. You returned with Oli when her sister was murdered. Its only been two weeks, so I haven't personally seen if you are a good maid or not. Tell you what. Our butler died long time ago, and we never had the time to get someone to lead the 4 other servants. For this week you will see to everything." She said. Her eyes twinkled with amusement. I stared back with a challenge in my eyes. Oli nodded to me behind her mothers back. Her mother came forward and grabbed my chin, looking into my eyes. She let go and swiftly left the room.

I never had understood humans, but this case I did. She wanted to see who was better to take care of Oli. I looked back and helped her finish get ready. I would not let this soul slip away, sister or not.
