Taking a break from Ethan lets focus on Hannah...
Hannah Dalton didn't pursue men. That was one of the many things that she liked to take pride in. She particularly didn't pursue men who showed no interest in her, or the ones that send out mixed signals. Whenever she met a man who attracted her she would always let him know. Always. The rest she would let the man decide. Simple. No games involved.
But since Ethan wasn't picking up the ball, hadn't even acknowledged that one had been tossed in his direction, she should have shrugged it off. Forgotten about Ethan Davies and gone about her business. Only...she couldn't do that either. It wasn't that she was some clingy, stubborn, obsessed girl going through a phase of a school girl crush. Nuh-uh Hannah Dalton had more dignity than that.
It was just that all those years ago...what had happened to him... had caused him to loose all the interest he had in life. All the faith he had in himself. Leaving him a shell of himself. Dull, lifeless and oh so broken. She knew he wasn't like that. Not really. The Ethan Davis that she knew was kind, compassionate, loving and beautiful. Inside out. With a smile that could make any girl go weak in the knees. Eyes that were so warm that could make anyone fall in love with him. Those were the qualities of him that had first made her fall in love with him. But what had happened to him had caused him to loose not only two most trusted people in his life but also himself. She knew that he didn't love her. Wasn't sure that he ever could but she did. Really did. And she was going to help him get through the pain of those events no matter what.
Jogging down the stairs Hannah glanced briefly thought the etched glasses window in the front door to see that Seattle was indeed going to experience a very rare sunny day today.
She glanced at the midnight-blue cat clock on the wall of her enormous kitchen, its tail swinging rhythmically with every passing second.
She snagged the Walkman lying on the patterned kitchen counter and slipped on the headphones. A little music with the morning coffee, she decide, and cued up the tape.
" Hey Han," Gwen burst into the bathroom wearing an underwear and a ratty little t-shirt. After all these years living with her blonde best friend all through the college and now the law school the thought of grabbing a robe before stepping a foot outside their rooms had never occurred to either of them.
"Han???" Her brows lifted as Gwen found her friend bent over, head in fridge, her pajamas clinging loosely to her ass, her hair black as midnight, straight as rain, tied loosely in a ponytail behind her back. Her hips bumping, grinding, circling causing Gwen to laugh out aloud, who needed to go to the circus with Hannah in the house.
"Han!!!!" Gwen kicked her best friends pajama clad butt with her bare feet causing Hannah to jolt and scream all at the same time.
"Gwen!!!" She yelled before turning around a chicken leg in one hand and a coke can in the other. "what the hell!!!"
"What!!!?? you wouldn't listen!!" Gwen explained in self defense, holding both of her hands up in the air in mock surrender.
"Huh??"
"You..." Sighing Gwen very slowly tapped a finger to her ears, and said, with exaggerated enunciation, " Your head phones stupid!!!"
"What? Oh." Hannah had just become aware of the music roaring in her head and ripped the headphones off before fixing her friend with a steely gaze. "What's your excuse?"
"I need your jeans." Gwen shrugged picking up the coffee cup from the kitchen counter and taking long swig before scrunching her nose in displeasure and placing it back from where sh'd picked it up. " Jeez Han cold coffee really?"
"I forgot I poured it," Hannah muttered, then, taking a long swig of coke from the can in her hand, fixed a narrow, accusing gaze on her friend's happy face. "You are happy." The words tumbled out of her mouth sounding almost like an accusation. "I haven't seen you happy in like...forever!! Since you broke up with that pathetic excuse of a man. What was his name again? Oh yeah Toby." Then as if it struck her she dumped her food on the kitchen counter before lurching forward and rudely shaking her friend's shoulders, "you aren't going back to him are you. Gwen how many times to I have to remind you that he..."
"Hey! Hold on, hold on," Gwen tried to calm her friend time before she could fall back into her rambling mode, "I am not going back to him."
"Oh...but you asked for my jeans? "
"Yeah I am not going on a date with Toby, I never said I am not going on a date."
Her last statement caused a confused little frown to form on her best friend's delicate features.
"I met this guy the other day while I was coming back from work. We sort of bumped into each other....anyways it's a long story. So we have a breakfast date today and I need your jeans. Understood?"
"Yeah but..."
"I'll explain later. Right now I am late. Where are they?"
"In my room. Bottom drawer." Hannah sighed. She figured she could ask Gwen about this mystery guy later. Right now she too needed to shower and go out for some household shopping. Apparently the food was running low and neither of the occupants of the house had bothered to notice.
"Thanks." Her best friend gave her a quick hug before turning around and jogging upstairs to Hannah's room. If only she could be as lucky as Gwen.
So Hannah knows Ethan since before what happened to him happened...proves that she isn't just a sick, obsessed girl but she want's to help him...problem? He wouldn't let her...but don't worry things will start to sort out soon enough...Comment please?
