Maria stared at the un-Finny like Finny as he stomped towards her; her mind both confused, racing with thoughts, and empty, frozen in shock, at the same time.

Either way, she had to move. Now.

Finny threw a punch towards her and Maria rolled out of the way just in time. His fist slammed against the ground, creating a decently sized hole from the force. That was when Maria was reminded yet again that he was stronger than the average human.

I have to stop him, she thought. However, she also couldn't hurt him. She wouldn't. He was...innocent, or at least she thought he had been. This cannot be Finny.

He lunged towards her again and she ducked under his arms using her advanced demon speed. Before he could turn around to face her she dove forward and pushed him from behind, causing him to stumble forward into a tree.

She was a young demon compared to others, namely Sebastian, but in the short time of being a demon she had already forgotten how much pain a regular - er, mostly regular - human body could withstand. She had to stop Finny, but not kill him or permanently damage him.

Finny turned and bolted forward again, mindlessly trying to kill her. Maria once again tried to duck under his arms but he was expecting this and caught her wrist before flinging her to the ground. A loud crack signified the breaking of her wrist, and Maria knew her eyes were glowing pink - if they hadn't been already - when her demonic powers focused on healing her injuries as quickly as possible. Her body knew it was fighting, and her powers seemed to up themselves in response to that.

Finny had her pinned, and his hands went to her throat. Maria knew it was dirty, but this was life or death. She kneed him hard in his family jewels, and he rolled off of her in obvious pain. Eerily enough, he still hadn't made an noises to signify that he was in pain, but his body responded well enough.

Maria sprang up quickly to avoid being trapped again and instantly locked her arms around Finny in a sort of chokehold. Then, silently apologizing to the poor young man, she squeezed tight under she felt a loud pop. She felt the ball of the joint roll out of the socket as Finny's shoulder dislocated.

There, that should slow him down! Maria thought victoriously.

However, things did not work in her favor. Finny stare at her with his unfocused eyes before placing a hand on his useless shoulder, which was noticeably out of place. Then, without even flinching or blinking, he pushed it back into place.

"Shit," Maria muttered, half in awe and half in apprehension. None of her non life-harming attacks were working.

"Maria? Where are you?" Ciel called, somewhere close by. So he had followed her! She looked in that direction, wondering if she should answer or not. In a second she heard him turn and run back towards the manor. Hopefully he was getting help. Sebastian would probably know what to do in a situation like this.

Finny took advantage of her hesitation and lunged forward, tackling her to the ground. The two grappled for dominance in the struggle, but in the end Maria was pinned under Finny again, his unseeing eyes somehow burning holes into hers.

If only he wasn't a human or my friend, Maria thought, then I would have won this fight in an instant.

And it was true. In holding back in order not to harm her comrade, Maria was going to lose to him. So, she tried one last tactic, her last resort.

She was going to test this so called power William had mentioned. The one that apparently forced Sebastian and the others to love and protect her. The one in which she didn't even know if it truly existed.
