You and Ash arrived at the hospital and checked in and got a room. The nurse gave you an IV and put a monitor on your bump. Soon the doctor came in,
"Hey guys I came as fast as I could. How're you feeling?" He said checking the monitor and writing some things down.
"Um on I guess. I'm in a lot of pain" you say shakily.
"Ok well I'm gonna check you to see if your dial ayes at all cuz that would confirm that you're in premature labor." He says putting some glovers on and moving to the end of the bed.
"What are the risks if she's in labor?" Ash asks nervously.
"Well I'm gonna do an ultrasound to check the current state of the baby, but from what I saw from the last time you guys were in the baby was pretty much fully developed." He says spreading your legs and doing what he needs to do and all.
"Pretty much? Wh-um what does that mean?" Ash questions.
"Well if you want me to be completely honest, there's a chance your baby could be born with slight underdeveloped lungs and trouble breathing, but the good news is we see that with most premature babies so we know how to deal with it." He says finishing up and taking off his gloves.
"So what's up doc? Am I in labor?" You ask.
"Yes, your 7cm dilated. How long have you been having pain?"
You bite your lip and glance at Ash, you know if you answer then he'll know you lied to him earlier when you said you were fine.
"Um well I had some pain earlier but it wasn't very bad but it did get a bit worst thought the day but I thought that they were just Braxton Hicks because everyone kept telling me those are common at this stage in pregnancy." You say kinda rushed.
"Well they are but in your case these weren't Braxton Hicks, you've been having contractions. Everything looks fine right now. I'll be back shortly to check you again, but don't hesitate to send a nurse to come get me if you need anything or if anything happens before than." He says.
"Thanks doc. We will." Ash says then looks at you, taking your hand once the doctor leaves. "Baby, why didn't you tell me you were in pain? I knew something was wrong, I should have done the concert."
"No Ash it's ok please don't be blame yourself. I don't know, I thought it would pass and I didn't want you to cancel the concert because of me. I know how much you've been looking forward to tonight. I'm sorry." You say looking down.
"It's ok baby you didn't do anything wrong. Family comes first. Yes I was looking forward to performing tonight, but when it comes to you and the baby I would cancel even our biggest concert we've ever play for you. I love you." Ash says bringing your hand up to his lips and kissing it.
"I love you too." You smile but it quickly turns into a frown as another contraction rips through your body causing you to yelp a little and squeeze Ash's hand.
"Shh baby it's ok. Just breath through it remember. In and out." Ash says trying to comfort you. You relax as it passes, breathing out deeply.
"Thank you Ash." You smile weakly.
"Anytime baby anytime." He says pushing a strand of hair behind your ear and kissing your forehead. "You should try and get some rest baby." "Ok I'll try....thank you baby." You close your eyes and Ash hums softly until you finally fall asleep.
~2 hours later~
You woke up crying with an intense pain shooting through you. Ash had fallen asleep in the chair by your bed and and shook him a bit, "Ash? Ashton! Please wake up it hurts!" Ash woke up groggily but once he looked at you with tears streaming your face he was immediately wide awake. "Omg baby! Shh it's ok I'm here...are you ok?" You quickly shook your head no and Ash kissed you forehead and pressed the button by the bed calling for the doctor and before you knew it the doctor and three nurses were rushing into your room and the doc was telling you it was time to push. You looked at Ash scared of what was about to happen. You had never really been to great with pain and having to go through labor and delivery was something you were not looking forward to and Ashton knew this. "Shh baby it's ok, it'll be over before you know it and then we'll be able to finally hold our baby." He said kissing your temple.
The doctor glanced up at you then back down and said, "Ok Mrs Irwin on three push ok?One...two...three!" You took a deep breath and bore down squeezing Ash's hand tightly and you gasped in pain as you felt the baby moving down. "You're doing so well baby I'm so proud of you." Ash said kissing your forehead. The doctor told you to relax for a minute and you did and tried to catch your breath. It wasn't long before the doctor told you to push again but this time it was hard to then the last. You struggled to breath through the pain and tears fell from you eyes as screams escaped your lips. You pushed for another hour or so before the doctor finally told you he could see the head and you needed to push just a little more. You are exhausted and shook your head trying to catch your breath, "N-no I can't I can't it hurt I'm so tired I can't." Ash looked at you sympathetically longing to take this all away from you but he knew he couldn't, "baby..baby listen to me ok....I-I've never been good with words but I love you so much and you're so strong. You're almost there baby just a little bit more. You're so strong and beautiful. God I love you, and right now you're making me the happiest man on earth. Think about our beautiful baby that we're waited so long for and now we can hold him or her and finally have our little family but you just need to push just a little more...for me, for the baby...please baby I love you you can do this." You looked at him in awe and nodded your head taking a deep breath and pushed one last time as Ash whispered sweet nothing on ear ear and finally the pain subsided and the room so filled will the small cries for your baby. "It's a boy!" The doctor announced cleaning the baby off and letting Ash cut the cord. "He's amazing baby I'm so proud of you. You did it." Ash said kissing you and wiping the tears from your face. The nurses brought the baby over and handed him to you. You cradled you son in your arms and a tear fell down your cheek as you took in every tiny perfect detail about him. "Cole Joseph Irwin...he's perfect...he looks you like you." You said smiling and looking up at Ash who wiped some of his own tears away and smiled back. "I love you so much thank you for this perfect family." He said leaning down and kissing you. Finally your baby was here and you had your perfect little family. Nothing felt better than this moment.
