"Um, what's up with you?" I asked ever so slightly.
"Oh, nothing. I just, I, um-" Dad was stuttering? He never stutters.
"C'mon, spit it out big guy." I said trying to give him a splash of confidence. Didn't work.
"Well I'm going out on a date tonight with Ms. Huiler."
"What?! Why didn't you tell me or Aiden, most importantly me, but why did you keep it a secret?" Of course I wanted to ask, why her?
"I just didn't want you or your brother to get hurt." Dad said.
"Why would," there I go again, "we get hurt? It's not like your stabbing us in the back. Hey? Why aren't you wearing your wedding ring? Dad?" I was confused, but not that confused. I get it, he was going on a date, but he has never taken off his wedding ring.
Dad had a worried look on his face. "I have to get going Emma, I'll talk to you later."
"Wait! Dad! You can just leave like that!" And like that he was off in a flash.
