Chris sat on the balcony of the Tortuga and looked out over the forest, it seemed quiet today, as if a blanket had settled over it and muffled the sound. Tasmania, to Chris, had some of the most interesting creatures in the world, extinct or other, no doubt about that. He unconsciously scratched at the green and black glove on his hand, remembering how his brother, Martin, had begged him to put on his adventure gear. Martin had had a feeling they would need it, and Chris knew it was hopeless to argue when Martin 'got a feeling'. Speaking of Martin, where was he? Chris looked backwards into the Tortuga but all he could spot was Jimmy's baseball cap from where it hung on the back of his chair. Now that he thought about it, the Tortuga was empty, everyone was gone. Taking one last glance at the tranquil forest he pushed himself to his feet and started down to the main floor of the H.Q.
--------------------------------------------------
The main level was completely abandoned, Jimmy's half eaten pizza lay in a heap next his controller, Jimmy would never casually leave his controller unguarded. They certainly left in a hurry, Chris concluded thoughtfully, I wonder why they didn't invite me. The Tortuga's front door was open, so Chris assumed they had gone outside and he decided to follow after them. Looking around, he spotted a trail of footprints leading off into the forest directly in front of the Turtle ship's massive head. Well they weren't exactly sneaky about it, so it can't be that bad. He grabbed his creature pod, his suit and his backpack before heading out to the trail himself. He stared at the dirt in disdain, why didn't they invite him? Had he done something wrong? Chris tried to think of mistakes he might have made, but came up drawing blanks. Unfortunately, with his mind in the clouds, Chris failed to notice the root in his path. His boot caught underneath the wood and he came crashing down onto his hands and knees. "Today is just not my day!" He growled under his breath.
Welp, that was the first chapter, I don't know who will read this but... Oh well. Poor Chris, if only he knew... 😈 Anyway, see you in the next chapter.
Keep on creature adventuring~
